Going to an event at the MEN and apparently we're going to eat first.

If it was just me I'd be in the Briton's Protection for a few (and possibly a bag of crisps) but she has other ideas.

Any suggestions?

Any of them you'd particularly recommend?

We are happy with pretty much any style/cuisine as long as it's tasty.

If you like asian kind of food the Tampopo is really good. Lots of good noodles and currys.

Just outside the triangle and service is usually pretty sharpish.

Hmmm...... also just realised (after the suggestion of things near the Printworks) that the MEN is not the same as G-MEX (thought it was the new name).

So perhaps having one too many in the Briton's Protection and staggering out expecting it to be over the road wouldn't have worked after all.

I'd opt for the Northern Quarter instead. Trof or Odd do good food. The Printworks is like a vision of hell in the Evening. If the Britons Protection is your bag, then you'll hate the Printworks with a passion.

In fact: Try the English lounge. Its quite civilised, especially if you sit upstairs, and the food is good

Heh, no. It's what was formerly the Nynex arena, on top of Manchester Victoria train station.

Depends on how much you want to spend but you'll want to be in the NQ:

http://bluu.co.uk/menus/manchester/FoodMenu.pdf (food used to be reasonable a few years ago but not been recently)

And there's always Marble or Port Street Beer House for a beer in that area.

+1 for Northern Quarter. Everything else available round there will be plastic.

East is East is not far (Blackfriars St), if you fancied a curry.

Market Restaurant in the Northern Q is nice.

Have a good night?
We're going to watch 5000 primary school kids sing a medley of Abba, Monkees and Queen songs. Does it get better than that?

Well, I once found a quarter that someone had dropped/thrown away in fear on the steps up from Victoria to the arena, so good luck.

Careful in the moshpit. 🙂

Ah, that explains it, about 20 kids (all high vis vests and parent / teacher minders) got on the train I was on this aft, heading into town.
They struck up a song or two, not exactly Flash Mob stylee but somehow it beat the drone of the train.
That said, a hour or two cooped up with then and hundreds more...... mmm

Oh, thanks one and all for the food tips. MrsMM got show tickets for crimbo and we also plan to get a bite to eat..
