My advice is to seriously question yourself. You're asking a forum when to eat. Stop and think about that.
Are you hungry? If yes, then eat. If no, don't eat. If you've not eaten for several days, consider forcing eating anyway as you need calories. But really, if you need to ask this question I seriously doubt how ill you actually are, stop pandering for attention.
There is no rule. Once vomiting stops, and as soon as a person feels able, then food restarts.
over the weekend i was given a couse if antibiotics for bacterial tonsilitous went back to work yesterday and started throwing towards the end of the shift now lost the last day or so in tabs just dont want to rush it again.
mfl - thank you a straight forwerd answer
Drink as soon as you feel able as your body will be dehydrated. If you can keep that down then eat as soon as you feel able, if it comes back up (or down) then so be it.
Apperently avoid dairy (Says Dr Mrs FD) as it can increase your chances of becoming intolerant.
Stick to basic food stuffs ie burnt toast (the carbon helps settle acid in the stomach), digestive biscuits and water etc.
You'll know yourself when your ready to eat everything again.
I think its the returning to work thing that your supposed to wait at least 24hrs from the last occurence of sickness.
For gastroenteritis it's good to starve for 24 hours after the last barf to allow the bugs to clear, gets rid of it pretty well. Water should be small amounts often to help prevent dehydration.
Hard to say with you could be the antibiotics or could be swollowing some of the nasties has caused gastroenteritis If you can hang on to this evening then go for it, if not start gentle with some toast and see how it goes.

Why not there's a lot of medical bods on here.
Ah I assumed the sickness was caused by a bug or food poisoning.
Are you saying it was the anti biotics making you sick? It is a known sife effect.
Might be worth a word with your GP and swapping antibiotics.
Water is much more important than food!
Someone mentioned kebab..
I had one the other day, and apart from the chilli sauce, I reckon they must be healthy.
Grilled rather than fried chicken, a huge pile of salad, and a bit of pitta bread.
mchamish - iv had that debate with the misses before cant be that bad eh
just devourd a toasted ham sarni that went down lovley staying down so far.
I normally just listen to my head - if I want to eat I will, if I want to drink I will. If I don't, I don't.
Quite oddly, about 4 weeks ago I was in a supermarket and had an urge to get some apple juice. I never buy apple juice.
Later that day I started feeling really ill and started puking/shaking/sweating etc. The only thing I was craving was apple juice. I guess somewhere deep inside, my body knew something I wasn't consciously aware of and was readying itself.

Because why would you, the only real thing governing when you start eating again is when you feel you can keep it down. Only you know that about yourself.
Just seems like a daft question to me, seems like common sense to just listen to your body and eat when you're ready. The answer "straight forward" answer mfl gave is exactly the answer I gave, along with most of the other replies - when you're able/feel able. Pretty normal "automatic" response of your body, I'd have thought. Anti-bios have a tendency to mess with your digestion anyway, so you risk hurling from them at any time if you're particularly sensitive.
