Surely, as long the schools remain open, the virus is going to spread?
should I stay or should I go
Thats depends. Were you planning on going on the lash?
Obviously you should cancel the Coylumbridge and book somewhere else instead that needs the money and isn't run by utter dicks

Go. She was clear not to change plans and not to travel to one of the areas where infection rates are high. Its HIghland therefore go.
I'm going to Oban and Ft Bill next week and I'm in Lothian as well.
Yeah I knew the hotel is not not great but it's family friendly location innit. The main confusion as above was, don't cancel plans but don't travel from central belt unless necessary.
Hadn't seen that issue thanks, don't feel so bad about cancelling then, which I think is probably the right thing to do.
Yeah it's a p1ss poor message frankly, either say do not leave the area OR don't. Leaving stuff like that hanging is pathetic and open to interpretation.
Do we reckon "don't change your plans" relates to holidays you had booked or any plans? I was meant to be heading to ride in Pitlochry on Saturday with a friend who's on holiday up here. Is that the sort of plan she means do we think?
I think the latest restrictions will actually have the opposite effect and help to spread the virus. People looking to get away for the October break will now avoid the Central belt area or spill out of these areas in search of more normal surroundings for the week. Probably to areas less affected. Can't see the locals being happy with an influx of tourists from heavily affected Covid postcodes.
Who knows? I read it as she is trying not to give tourism any more of a kicking than it has had in the statement about changing plans. Personally I would go.
Seems the link got more wrong than right so apologies for that
should I stay or should I go……?
Oh, I'm sure the locals will welcome you and the rest of the plague carriers with open arms while you're forcing them out of the restaurants and cafes with your manky disease.

Too right! I was holidaying in Aviemore the other week and spent the whole time running around licking the inside of shop assistants' mouths and rubbing my balls in locals' faces.
Good times.
Re coylumbridge? Dont go, its a dump! Premier inn much nicer.
We did 3 nights back in August and had a great time, 2 toddlers included.

Aye, but that was before the locals built the moat.

I didn't know the Winking Owl was hosting it's young-persons' disco again!
I'm glad I've got the image of arrpee teabagging round Tescos to overcome my sadness at scotroutes rejection.
Local Trivia question; which local purveyor of niche cycling kit and up-to-date route advice was once in a band called The Shop Assistants?
but don’t travel from central belt unless necessary.
Yeah, but as someone with about the most northern house, on the northern edge of the most northern town in north central belt, you're barely central belt really...
Do we reckon “don’t change your plans” relates to holidays you had booked or any plans? I was meant to be heading to ride in Pitlochry on Saturday with a friend who’s on holiday up here. Is that the sort of plan she means do we think?
We changed last week. Although our plans involved travelling through Inverclyde, Arran and (bad bits) of Argyll, plus having to move from self-catering to a couple of hotels, plus 7 ferries. It just wasn't appropriate.
Video clue
We're away for a couple of days next week, comoany called the mountain men, bit if kayaking, glamping, food etc provided, more kayaking.
Need to give em a phone and see what's the script.
It just wasn’t appropriate.
Aye, it'd be against the spirit of the rules wouldn't it? I had my eye on another ride anyway from the door - which is the beauty of living in Scotland!
The current guidelines leave everyone in a limbo. There is no actual travel ban so if you live in a high risk area and you cancel a hotel (etc) then you can expect no recompense. Travel anyway and you're really being a bit of a dick.
I was planning to have a few days away this week / weekend. Now I don't know if I should. Buggeration
You can still have a few days away. Just stay in one of the 5 areas.
.
No worries. It's OK to ignore guidance if you're special and it doesn't apply to you. Chances are you'll be surrounded by other infection spreaders too.
Question: are Stingers recyclable and how many would be needed for the A9 around Drumochter area.
Asking for a friend.
caltrops are the eco reusuable option

Is it Zombie Alex Taylor?
Wish I could remember who used to do a punkier cover of that, Idlewild maybe, or Joyrider? It was ace, anyway
Ah bloody hell, it was F***ed Up! What are the odds of that
I don't envy the FM. Trying to produce rules and guidance that slow the spread while keeping as much of the economy going as possible is a pretty thankless task. I'd say it's up to all of us to try to follow the guidance but I don't see the point in trying to go beyond it. If they thought stricter measures were needed they'd have brought them in.
So, if you are not in one of the 5 high-risk areas and you had something booked in another lower-risk area you should probably still go (support the local economy etc) even if you wont be able to eat or drink when you get there. I'm not so sure about travelling from one of the 5 areas to another one or one outside that region. Is that now against the guidance? I saw that she said something about not cancelling your holiday booking. But if she doesn't want people travelling outside those 5 areas that must include a lot of holiday bookings.
Meanwhile, one of the groups I ride with occasionally started a chat on Messenger at 4pm for a ride at Dunkeld on Saturday, car sharing on the way up from Edinburgh. 🤦♂️
It's stuff like that that's galling- some people just sack off the rules and do what they want while I do what I'm supposed to and miss out on fun stuff.
Scotroutes : that’s an easy one, their peel session was played on 6music a few weeks ago. (I wont let on who it is, someone else can out him.)
I think I'm ok to leave Moray to head to Ardnamurchan next week then. Happy days, just have to dodge the NC500 campervan haterz on the A9 😉
Edit- that guitarist looks familiar 😁
I was going to head out of Lothian for only the 3rd time in 7 months! Now I feel I shouldn't. Just a jolly, nothing booked.
Are cafes (non licensed premises) in the 5 lock down areas allowed to be open from 06.00 to 18.00? Guidance seems unclear.
If they are, then I can't understand why licenced premises (restaurants, not 'wet' bars) are not allowed to be as open as normal minus their alcohol licence for the duration?
The gym ruling seems like madness too. I can't be in an 8 person class, but I can share the gym floor with 20 other people. Doesn't seem backed up by scientific evidence either that gym classes in particular are a hot spot for transmission.
In five central belt areas, all licensed premises - with the exception of hotels for residents - will be required to close indoors and outdoors, although takeaways will be permitted.
Cafes which do not have an alcohol licence will be able to stay open until 18:00.
I agree that seems nonsensical.
Aberdeen had an issue it gets locked down, central belt has an issue whole of scotland suffers 🤷♀️
Just don't understand the thought process behind some of those decisions.
Aberdeen had an issue it gets locked down, central belt has an issue whole of scotland suffers
But Scotland isn't locked down, its not really suffering.
There's basically some pubs closed.
And a nice request to be careful.
It's too try and get through to the numpties munrobiker posted about.
That said, these new restrictions do seem rather more BoJo like.
Back to local road rides and some loops of Whitelee Windfarm for me then...
Had been looking forward to a nice MTB spin round Mugdock on Saturday, hey ho ..
That said, these new restrictions do seem rather more BoJo like.
No really, it's basically no public swally, and the licensed cafe part which seems a tad unfair basically just serves to reduce indoor mixing a bit further.
Yeah, schools and further education are a huge factor in rising numbers, but they're a bit more important than a pint or 3.
... numbers wrong I think, will take another gander.
And no nat 5 exams this year, not sure how I feel about that one. MinibutnowtallerthanmeLD seems to think it's all good. First real exams will be highers!
