I can't get xbox to find Internet connection. Am I doing something wrong or am I missing hardware?

I've got the xbox connected to the wireless adapter thing and I have a bt homehub modem. Do I need a router connected to the modem? Or something else. Help!

Thanks for the help guys but still not working. The adapter isn't picking up the wireless network. So nothing is showing in settings for me to edit. Maybe the adapter is faulty. Maybe I'm just thick.

ive experienced a lot of problems with the wireless thingy, my nehew would suddenly get kicked out of live for no reason (turns out load spf people have problems with the wireless adaptor), in the end hardwired it in with cable bought off the evilbay and no problems since.

make sure the ssid is enabled on router, info on that should be in router docs.
