For pub grub and beer go to the Lass O Gowrie, just off Princess Street:

http://www.thelass.co.uk/

Also the Peveril of the Peak, Rain Bar, Briton's Protection and Knott bar are all within a 5 minute walk. Oh, and the Temple of Convenience on Oxford Street.

I was in all of them last night and feel suprisingly fine. 😉

Always heard good stuff about Lass O Gowrie.

Also if you are not homophobic I really like this place (closeby):

Yeah, most of the places on Canal Street are ok.

Hora, you should check out the pies at the Lass, though I think the chef had tucked into a few too many when I caught a glimpse of her last night.

Good Stuff - oh, and WorldClassAccident, the Circus Tavern on Portland Street is worth a visit if you want to see the smallest pub in Manchester.

Red Chilli for food then and a wander around for a beer. I will be leaving Southampton shortly but if anyone wants to meet up for a jar then post on here and we can sort something out when I get there.

GlitterGary speaks words of wisdom indeed. The Circus is always good too. Then nip across the road to Fab Cafe. Thats always good for a giggle

Girlfriend once found a small fish head in her vegetable pie at the Lass.

Other than that, nice place with good beer.

Did you have to pay extra?

Maybe it was a warning from the fishpie mafia?

Mmm, The Briton's Protection.

Best menu in the North. I don't think they do food though.

The Briton's Protection do do food. I had a nice game pie in there not so longer ago. Good wisky selection from what I remember too!
