It was really rather lovely. Very heavy malt, burnt toffee-like flavors* to it. Definitely one to savor* rather than quaff.

was that from Cask? looks like the sort of stuff they sell. I had an 'Arrogant Bastard Ale' from there once which was a mere 7.2% (compared to your one's 10.something%), but it was still pretty slow drinking.

Alfa, not Cask this time, am a little further from home...! It was a little over 10%, so certainly not to be rushed!
Not sure I really enjoy beers of that strength tbh. They certainly need to be consumed in a very different manner from ales of a (much) lesser strength.

Same as wine is just fermented grape juice, nowt more. No matter what some ponce on TV sez about it.
Don't muck about with beer like people have with wine. Leave it as a universal bevvy to be enjoyed by all, equally.

I'm all for variety and personal choice but my personal choice is for session beers, Adnams Best, Youngs Ordinary, Black Sheep Ale etc. Partly I like gulping it down and partly I find the taste of beer that is over 5% becomes a bit over bearing.
