Tell me your little secret places in Donegal?

Taking the kids there for four days in my parents motorhome. I spent all my childhood summers there. I know a couple of fantastic beaches but would like to know some more cool places to go and things to see. Cafes, campsites etc.

Port, just north of Cashel in the South West corner, well worth a trip out there - it's stunning!

Donegal in general is though, just don't trust road signs 😉

Visit donegal craft village - www.donegalcraftvillage.com, on way into the town from south. Nice cafe and sell lovely fresh baked breads etc to take away.

we're not taking bikes and not visiting 'craft' centres!!

So far I'm planning Tra-na-rossan beach, a diddly-diddly pub visit, Portnoo, The Murder Hole beach (see below), and then whatever may come up here.

Slieve League. Spectacular!

Located on the coast of County Donegal, Ireland, Slieve League (Irish: Sliabh Liag), at 601 metres, has Ireland's highest sea cliffs. Less famous than the Cliffs of Moher, in County Clare, Slieve League reaches almost three times higher than Clare's famous attraction.

It's sure beautiful, but the above came right out of my new book, The Big Book of Bollocks

What's a "diddly-diddly" pub anyway?? 😕

Might I suggest Port Salon, Horn Head - far better than Slieve League and less likley to be covered in mist. Falcarragh and visit the sand spit at Dooish and take the ferry to Trory

Killybegs (Na Cealla Beaga).

(If you know killybegs you'll know this is not an accurate answer :D)

Slieve League is very nice.

A pub where traditional music is played for the benefit of the people playing the music rather than tourists.

Idave

Portnoo Beach is superb and go several times a year, good pub nearby in Ardara is Nancy's on the main st, I have been going there for years and when I first went there (probably 15 years ago) there was no till just the top of a woodern Beer barrel, where all the money was thrown on. Also in the toilet, it was owners main bathroom and had their toothbrush at the side of the sink etc.

It's a quality part of the world to get away from it all and especially if the weather is good.

The smugglers inn is also a good pub at Rossnowlagh.

Other good beachs are carrickfinn and there are some great fish resturants around there. Going to Annagry in a couple of months looking forward to juyst hope the weather turns up!

+1 for Port.

Silver Strand is nice just the other side of Glencolumbcille, if Crow Pottery is open say hello to my parents.

Personally I can't stand the place. Bungalow after half finished bungalow. Rubbish weather. Expensive.
