Because I know how the media operate, they lie to further their agenda (on all sides).

I'd counter with why do you believe that all the things that have been said about him are true? Why do you give the media a free pass when you also don't know the context?

I don't. I only believe things he is recorded as saying, which no one disputes.

I don't give the media a free pass. This is not about the media other than them reporting what he said. I'm not quoting any media commentary or spin, just things Charlie Kirk ACTUALLY SAID. Are you disputing that he said them? If you accept that he did, you need justify why those quotes are acceptable. You say it's about context. So either provide the context which justifies them or admit you think they are OK even though you don't know the context.

I think the thumbnail of this post will be 'BruceWee owns deluded Charlie Kirk fanboy!!'

Spot on. A further aspect of the “context” charade is that for every fanboy who justifies his bigotry with reams of fake “context” there will be 1000 rednecks who read the “black people are bad” headline and respond “right on”, or make one of those silly noises that Americans use to express approval.

There is enough evidence out there to confidently agree with this.

The argument, that he would give others opportunity to debate him is again a smoke screen; yes he debated with unprepared college kids, but he prepared and followed his own script whilst they basically winged it. Its worth looking at his debates at Oxford/Cambridge where he went up against young people skilled at debating who had also prepared .. they made him look silly, and every bit the vile racist hard right propagandist he was.

He didn`t deserve to be murdered for his faults as a person. Unfortunately it seems his death is being twisted by his so called colleagues into something sinister that I feel will leave an even worse legacy than his life has.

Imagine when Reagan was the worst US president you could conceive of !!

He was never the worst, which is not to say I'm a fan of his, just that others were worse. Richard Nixon was quite a competent president in many ways, but was paranoid and dishonest. However, if you go back to the 19th century, there were some truly terrible presidents, Reagan was a paragon in comparison. James Buchanan, who basically stumbled into the Civil War, was utterly disastrous.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Buchanan#Legacy

Similarly, Andrew Johnson was far, far worse than Reagan ever was:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Johnson#Historical_reputation_and_legacy

Sadly, Trump may soon knock out all other contenders and go down in the history books as the unchallenged worst ever president. Still, he has made it easy to forget how bad the George W. Bush years were.

Trump is just making the presidency, and by default the USA, a laughing stock. And worse still - making the USA more vulnerable than now since the end of the 2nd world war.

He has made adversaries of close allies, and made the USA look weak and incompetent to traditional enemies.

Every government dept is headed by someone unqualified to do so. And more worrying - by someone as stupid, or even stupider, than himself. Hegseth for example. He is calling 800 top military leaders etc to a meeting to apparently tell them about the new `warrior ethos` ... bonkers! what better opportunity would an enemy of USA have to get rid of 801 of the top USA military leadership in a strike.

I'm wondering if Portland being the next city to see troops is raising the anti a bit too far. Seem to remember some long running protests there a few years back, where the protesters were pretty well organised, if there's pushback how much force will the NG use?

Of course anarchists can be organised, in fact they have to be to live in co-operatively as there will be no government or political institutions.  Anarchists want no government ruling over them, they don't want to live in a state of chaos.

National Guard arriving in Chicago, after the city (along with Portland) has had great fun with ICE by refusing to serve them food or use toilets. The ultimate in passive aggressive  behaviour! Leaders in both cities calling for peaceful protest, despite the blatant lies being told about the woman getting shot in Chicago.

Does feel like Trump is trying to provoke a crisis to justify cancelling mid-terms and clinging to power. I was hoping I was overestimating that risk when we first discussed it, but it just looks more and more like a powder keg ready to blow.

Bondi's Senate testimony didn't get much coverage over here,  the Beeb version is quite tame, but some of the video put out by pro Democrat channels is really damming. She was like a cornered rat, which is probably why they are all getting more desperate.

None of this should come as a surprise to anyone that's had even a passing interest in US politics over the last few years

They will back him as long as he can help them achieve dominance over the entire world, probably forever, if he (Trump) does not deviate from their plan.  To do this they need him to weaken internal and external opposition.  Whether he (Trump) can understand the reality is irrelevant, so long as the reality is theirs (backers).

Which makes it seem like there could be two states National Guard facing off.

That ship sailed a long time ago when Henry Kissinger, a man who was directly responsible for the saturation bombing of Vietnam and Cambodia in which hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians died, and which was the greatest act of terrorism in history, was in 1973 awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for, yup, you've got it......."Restoring Peace in Vietnam"

What a ****.

Also, Greta: Well... She's tried to raise awareness of climate change around the world. Tried to raise awareness of what looks a lot like war crimes/genocide in Gaza. Trump _seems_ to want to fsck the planet and is happy to continue the slaughter of civilians in Gaza.

If you accept that Donald Trump has been nominated and is therefore being considered for an award which recognises a person's "outstanding contribution to peace", then that question really doesn't need to be asked.

A better question would be "why not?"

We are talking peace, not climate change. If anything Gretas involvement has just highlighted how much propaganda comes from the Palastinian side and has made her look stupider than she clearly already is.

happy to continue the slaughter of civilians in Gaza.

So that's why the useful idiot has been pushing for a peace deal? That's some strange logic you have.

Genocide requires intent which there is ample evidence of there not being, war crimes however are occuring on both sides but no one seems to complain about the Hamas ones, which are more plentiful and evident.

Not really clear what you are gibbering about. Greta used her public profile to bring attention to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. No propaganda involved. She hasn't looked stupid, only brave and principled.

So that's why the useful idiot has been pushing for a peace deal?

Trump has been pushing for a peace deal to serve his bizarre fixation on a Nobel prize (Obama living rent free in his head) and as part of a real estate project.

Genocide requires intent which there is ample evidence of there not being

Apart from clear statements of intent from government ministers, supported by the PM.

war crimes however are occuring on both sides but no one seems to complain about the Hamas ones, which are more plentiful and evident.

Really? How many hospitals have Hamas bombed? How many aid queues have they shot up? How many ambulances have they targeted? How many doctors have they kidnapped and tortured? How many tens of thousands of civilians have they killed? Try to think before you type - it's not Greta that's looking stupid.

Oh this is brilliant......no genocide in Gaza because it wasn't the intention of far-right Israeli government!

You know how it is.......a war kicks off and everything at first is fine and you are just slaughtering tens of thousands of people, but then things to get out of hand and you start murdering thousands of children, and doctors, and paramedics, and humanitarian aid workers, and journalists who might report what you are doing, and then you destroy people's homes, and their schools and universities, and anything that gives their society any identity and cohesion, and then you starve them, and you threaten them with exile, and you deny that there is a country called Palestine, it doesn't exist, and then you finally deny that there is even a Palestinian people, they are just Arabs, and they have no right to be on their own land.

But wait, it's not genocide because there's no "intention'", it's just that things got out of hand and beyond our control, honest guv......we totally respect the Palestinian people and wouldn't dream of destroying their society.

I read the following quote attributed to Trump while speaking to Benjamin Netanyahu about the peace deal, and for a few moments, it raised my estimation of him:

“I don’t know why you’re always so ****ing negative. This is a win. Take it.”

Then I thought that's probably exactly what they want, and imagined it in his voice, and my estimation was restored.

60,000+ Palestinians killed, of whom even the Israelis can't claim more than about 8,000 were 'fighters'. All in Gaza - their own country.

Versus 1,200 Israelis killed on Oct 7th and around 800 military personnel since. All in Gaza, not Israel.

The numbers speak for themselves.

And that's before we get into targeting of hospitals, opening fire on food queues and shooting at UN and other NGO aid staff.

From the BBC:

Nobel Committee chose politics over peace
12:01

The White House's communications director says the "Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace" in response to the announcement of the winner.

In a post on X, Steven Cheung writes that US President Donald Trump "will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives".

The president "has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will".

Trump had been gunning to win the award, and many of his supporters campaigned alongside him, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

If Donald Trump has the heart of a humanitarian, it's one that's sitting in a jar on his mantlepiece, or in his fridge.

Here’s a good write up on “Mother Jones” regarding who exactly is “Stephen Miller”,

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2020/08/stephen-miller-is-just-like-donald-trump-but-competent/

And here’s Timothy Snyder discussing Miller, only 8mins and well worth a watch, as is everything Snyder speaks about

Looks like Monday will trigger a stock sell off / short trade thanks to the dim witted loudmouth who in all honesty will have forgotten about tariffs again.

Despicable human

Trump's tariff flip-flops are a feature, not a bug. A huge amount of short positions will have been opened just prior to him announcing the extra tariffs. Wait for stock market to dive, close the short positions and pocket 9 figure sums, then TACO happens and everything goes back to "normal" for a bit.

The fact that it is possible to make $192m for the click of a button tells me that we as a society are ****ed, and that the entire game is rigged so why should the small person play by the rules anymore?

R4 World at One just had a war crimes investigator on

he was basically saying that most the above is not unusual in many wars

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live/bbc_radio_fourfm

proving it as genocide in a court is Indeed very hard and we know that Israel is not going to share their evidence of war crimes committed by the government or any of its soldiers

Who was this war crimes investigator? Your link doesn't provide any clues and saying what has happened in Gaza is just typical of many wars is very much in line with the Israeli government's position.

It's really not difficult to see that what has happened in Gaza over the last two years is very different to what happens in most contemporary wars. And it's very easy to make a comparison with another very nasty and brutal war going on right now - the Russian Ukraine War.

In two years 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza (many shot by snipers), in the Ukraine over a three year period it appears to be less than 700 children. More journalists  have been killed in Gaza than any other conflict.

Over 1,700 medical staff have been killed Gaza (often by very direct targeting) I don't know the figures for the Russian Ukraine war but I can't imagine they are even vaguely similar. Most of the hospitals have been destroyed and the ones that haven't are only partially functioning, how many hospitals have been destroyed in Ukraine and Russia?

Universities have been been destroyed by detonating explosions so that they were instantly reduced to rubble, how many universities in Ukraine and Russia have been destroyed through controlled explosions?

Starvation of civilians, including children, has been used as a deliberate weapon of war in Gaza, where is the evidence of either side doing that in the Ukraine Russian war?

And so it goes on. I would say the "war", as some people call the genocide occuring in Gaza, is actually not very typical of most wars at all.
