The problem for Republicans is longer term. A lot of younger people have been turned off by Trump and the Republican party
This recent Louis Theroux show was a bit of an eye opener regarding younger right-wing voters in the US;
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0014khc
Again it shows that it's the extremes that are being appealed to rather than the more moderate
regarding younger right-wing voters in the US
Interestingly I just saw this on Twitter, Nick Fuentes was very much behind Trump, and was at the Capitol on Jan 6th. Seems that not all young right white white supremacists are that impressed with Trump running again

Well, if he wants to stay out of prison for either keeping classified documents, insurrection or tax fraud he has no choice.
Going back a day or so, can someone clarify this point - if he's running then some of the legal action against him gets put on hold?
My understanding is that it effectively becomes a race. If Trump can spin out all the legal action he's facing and delay it for a couple of years, then [if he becomes President] he's home free for another four, with all the legal help that the president can call upon to defend himself.
if he’s running then some of the legal action against him gets put on hold?
Its not legally required to outside of a window right before the actual election (even that I think is just strong advice though).
However the various prosecutors may decide to put them on hold/treat it more carefully.
with all the legal help that the president can call upon to defend himself.
FWIW, White House legal counsel can only defend the Office of the President, not the President personally.
MCTD - I can't answer your question but did posit recently that standing for GOP nominee would be likely to slow or otherwise impact (some of) the investigations and that may have been a consideration in his announcement.
What’s the thinking/reasoning behind the “the war wouldn’t have happened if i was president” narrative?
he obviously assumes he has massive influence on his own without Nato and thinks arming Ukraine is a waste of money.
was he going to have a word in putins ear and the problem go away?
What’s the thinking/reasoning behind the “the war wouldn’t have happened if i was president” narrative?
He will spout any bullshit that inflates his ego, there is rarely any logic behind it.
Personally I think the divisions in the west caused by the Trump presidency and Brexit emboldened Putin in invading Ukraine.
Going back a day or so, can someone clarify this point – if he’s running then some of the legal action against him gets put on hold?
He would probably try to sack any federal prosecutors working on the case and launch counter-investigations against his enemies. He would probably also use pardons to buy off any witnesses and maybe try to pardon himself. Not saying he can legally do all that, but I'm pretty sure he'd try.
What’s the thinking/reasoning behind the “the war wouldn’t have happened if i was president” narrative?
He's a bullshitter who makes outrageous claims that are beyond factchecking.
FWIW, White House legal counsel can only defend the Office of the President, not the President personally.
Yep, I'm absolutely certain that Trump and the people around him that enable him will observe those legal niceties.
Ungular Merkel 😀
Fox calling it "Trump Derangement Syndrome!"
Millions of single ladies gonna change their party affiliation now that Trump's back in, apparently.

That Nick Adams account is weird, he’s either a few cucumber slices missing from a sandwich, or he’s using a “character” to drive engagement.

Surely if you are an Alpha Male! you wouldnt need to announce it.

He's just misspelled "incel male", that's all.
Unless it is one of the most amazing tongue in cheek parody accounts ever.
But, is missing the "parody" tag, so likely just an incel.
Thrilled to see Trump still pointing at people in the crowd. I wanna see him do that little dad dance thing again when he’s on the road in Chikenfuch, PA.

He did the trump two step bum shuffle at his last public event, reminded me of a mates kid who used to pull his his nappy off and scrunch his fists up whilst hopping from leg to leg whilst shitting on the floor.
Not seen this mentioned yet - presumably intended to distance Biden and the Democrats from the investigation. Not sure the Maga crowd will care.
Anyone more informed got any opinion

It removes the excuse of " its politically motivated" Seems a sensible move to me.
“Mates kid” soma? So it was….😉
It doesn't matter the optics of any prosecution. Trump will play the victim irrespective of any of that. It's 'the regime' trying to shut him down.
Trump will play the victim irrespective of any of that.
Its such as strange schtick isn't it - "I'm the greatest, I'm the bestest, I'm the winningest, I'm the richest, we're so strong, they're so weak, help me help me everyone, its all so terribly unfair, send me money quick"

Like an abusive relationship I guess

The victimhood culture is strong amongst those who he wants to appeal to so its not a bad tactic.
The trump dance should be all anyone needs to see to decide not to vote for him. It's not just that it's shit- though of course, it's really shit. It's that he thinks it's the best dance ever. That's his entire personality right there.
But it's also an almost perfect weathervane, because there's people that love it, and as far as I can tell those people all thing it's great entirely because trump thinks it's great. As long as he pulls the right face and other people are cheering they'd applaud him doing a jobby in a box.

Full MemberSurely if you are an Alpha Male! you wouldnt need to announce it.
It's a really long thread so I might have said this before in it, but, the best thing of all about the "alpha male" thing is that there's not really such a thing as an alpha male wolf. It's a wrong theory that only came about because observing wolves in the wild used to be really hard, so the studies were done in zoos. In nature, a normal functioning wolf pack is generally led by an experienced parent wolf- very often a female- and the pack will often drive out or kill anything that acts like the stereotypical "alpha". But in a zoo, aggression and muscle are rewarded while cleverness, effective pack and food management and succesful social interactions aren't, because it's a completely unnatural and compressing environment. That sort of dysfunctional, antisocial behaviour does appear in nature but almost always in a failing pack or one that's been severely disrupted by human intervention.
So if you say you're an alpha male, you're boasting that you live in a cage and only interact with other people that live in cages, and saying that makes you better than people that live in and succeed in civilisation. And funnily enough it's the same for humans- "alpha" characters generally only succeed in weird dysfunctional situations like prisons, gangs, broken families and badly run companies
...has had his twitter ban rescinded.
How long before the outpouring of verbiage resumes?
…has had his twitter ban rescinded
They really are desperate for new users! Hahah!
It's not users they need, it's revenue. Having Trump back will drive advertisers away and they won't sell enough $8/month blue accounts to compensate.
Thought the Trumpet was Red Team?
How long before the outpouring of verbiage resumes?
He says he has no intention of going back
... so I'm saying Monday

It will drive some away and bait a few others to join as the Donald fits their promotional needs. If Elon turns it into a platform for selling guns, Go-Bags and NFTs to Q-Believers it might trickle along (at a loss) for a bit...
"If Elon turns it into a platform for selling guns, Go-Bags and NFTs to Q-Believers it might trickle along (at a loss) for a bit"
I've thought the same.
I bet Trump sees Musk as a threat as much as an ally. I joked a couple of weeks back that either Twitter or truth social should buy one or the other out. Trump is probably trying to find a way to turn Elon into his bitch, like he did with Ted Cruz.
I got a lifetime ban for referring to Trump as the C-word.
Given he's just been reinstated I submitted an appeal of my ban.
Appeal rejected🙄

A Republican operative was convicted on Thursday of facilitating an illegal campaign contribution from a Russian national to the Trump campaign in 2016.
The fact that the phrase "Republican operative" even exists makes me shudder.

I think the definition of 'Alpha Male' seems to have come to mean 'people who blame their failure on others'.
Alpha as in 'failed to get past point A whilst watching from the side lines as everyone else enjoys exploring the rest of the greek alphabet that life has to offer'
That Nick Adams a/c has to be a parody. Could be the longest of long games by a liberal prankster.
He really is getting hit from all sides.👍

Trump company found guilty:
Came on here to post that two of his companies are going bankrupt, but can’t find the links now. AP and Reuters according to my GF. Smells like a way of avoiding paying debts though.
Still a complete business legbellend though
Seems a paltry fine, 1.6 mil it was reported last night, especially when they were defrauding in the range of 100's of millions, but then it was pointed out that no banks will want to touch them now, and they're known for constantly borrowing to stay afloat
Yes, I think it's going to be death by a thousand cuts from here on for Trump. Every Democrat D.A. or state level Attorney General will investigate him on anything they can. Even if he escapes conviction, the lawyers fees, time and stress, and constant publicity will take their toll.
But he’s colluding with God so please send $50 per month.
I know he’s meant to have slightly odd hands, but there’s something about the hands on that picture that is emblematic of some sort of demonic possession. Maybe he really is the incarnation of beelzebub after all..
darth - I think you're mixing two different cases.
The fraud you refer to is the Letitia James case about inflating/deflating the value of property assets for borrowing and tax purposes respectively. It implicates trump and his three eldest children directly.
Potential penalties if found guilty could be chunky with the possibility of being barred from doing (new) business in NY.
The tax fraud case which concluded yesterday did not involve trump or his family directly - but there's guilt by association.
To him and his cultists that's "the biggest witch hunt ever". To everyone else it's "why you keep your head down if you're a persistant fraudster". Congrats for making yourself the biggest target in the world, idiot boy

$99 apparently (I can’t even tell what’s real and isn’t anymore, I certainly don’t want this to be real)
WTAF! I just assumed that ^^^ was some Trump fan with an over-active imagination but no, he trumpeted (ha!) that as a major announcement on Truth (sic) Social.
He's completely lost the plot and must be desperate to raise money
Great to see a draft dodger present himself as a man in uniform 🙂
Beautiful,he has gone full Zapp Brannigan.
I hope his lovely family have him a luxury padded room booked.
I hope his lovely family have him a luxury padded room booked.
He's playing the long game. I'm imagining him sitting in court as the accused and dribbling whilst his lawyers plead mental incompetence (see above) to a gullible judge and jury...
TBH, I'm temped by the thought of a parody card collection.
https://twitter.com/3YearLetterman/status/1603478501985726464
Those cards are 99$ EACH and they aren't even real cards, just digital versions you keep on a phone/computer. The site is even showing them all as sold out right now which is so unlikely that you have to imagine some cynical manipulation going on. I'm not sure I understand anything any more, I'm off to find a cave
The site is even showing them all as sold out right now
I'll sell you the one further up this page for $199. Got plenty more too.
My head hurts. The fact this is real. The possibility they're genuinely sold out. I'm aghast.
Can't even the stauchest MAGA feaks keeping a straight face when they are shown those 'collectable' cards! Even Steve Bannon was mocking him.
I used Dall-E to create a new one if anyones interested. I can do it for 89.99

I don't know what happened here, this was supposed to be Batman

Not sure if this will really happen or if its just hype.
It might bring things to a head though, which could go either way. Show he was out to undermine Ametican democracy, or show he's the victim of a system that already has.

The Trumpists have already decided that he's a victim and no amount of evidence will change their minds. What this does is keeps Trump and the insurrection in the news so that normal people are constantly reminded of it. As the recent midterm elections showed, Trump and the MAGA nuttery is a big turnoff to centrist voters, so keeping him in the news hurts his cause rather than helping him.

If your NFT is generated primarily using copyrighted assets, do you even own it?
I'm liking the idea that the whole NFT thing is just a way to launder some foreign cash. It's the only thing that has made any sense with this so far but it's not a huge amount of money so I still don't really get it
He's shitting himself, he knows that sooner or later he's going to be charged and arrested.

January 6th House Committee recommends criminal charges
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/dec/19/trump-criminal-charges-jan-6-panel-capitol-attack
It's great news but sadly the Committee's recommendation is just that - a recommendation. It's like the difference between must and should in the Highway Code.
Also the last paragraph of the linked article:
The committee’s mandate runs out at the end of the year, and in 2023, the Republican House majority is almost certain not to continue its work.
It should be welcomed however as it exposes in detail the criminality of Trump and his supporters, and the frankly staggering hypocrisy of organisations such as the misnamed "Oath Keepers".
It certainly won't enhanced Trump's standing among the more normal thinking population.
Hahahahaha
....Tax returns....
Hahaha hahaha hahaha
If this guy wasn't a hard-core Trumpist, I would have thought it was a pretty good parody.
