I'm enjoying the blind panic among the Trump minions and the man himself. Judging by the moral integrity of his inner circle any of them will squeal given the opportunity.

IF it all goes tits up for Trump, how long will it take? Will it be like the Berlin Wall coming down which seemed to happen overnight or will it drag on.

Who knows. The 14 options article posted on the previous page was interesting reading and outlined some of the possibilities. It seems they almost completely rule out some options, but we're still left with anything between him deciding to resign tomorrow morning when he realises the writing's on the wall and he can't be bothered fighting, or a long drawn out process of impeachment with him fighting every step of the way (and it seems unlikely such a process could even start yet, no matter how good evidence there is against him). Or he might just get lucky, succeed at something and be re-elected in 2020.

His history of pay out rather than go to court doesn't suggest he's a fan of long drawn out investigations. If it gets too hot my guess is he'll bow out and then blame everyone but himself, hopefully taking Pence down with him.

We've already seen that they're preparing for the long game with the whole Fake News and now Fake Investigations (Hilary and Uranium lead by Nunes)

It'll take either something coming out that even his (mental) base believe or the GOP deciding to save their own skin/party and impeach but the chances of that happening are slim as Pence, Ryan and McConnell are all implicated

This is only the beginning

Ultimately the Meuller stuff might not amount to much, but Trump throwing everything he can at the Hillary/Dems/ starting a war with n.Korea, whatever it takes to distract from this

A\ makes him look like he does have something to hide

B\ drags America down with him further

It really depends who turns on him and what they have. If they go after his kids he might take the hint, the prospect of Little Donny and is son in law up on charges may force him to think about it. Anyway can't wait to see what drops

I'm interested in what happens if they go after Bannon - I feel like he knows where the (proverbial and maybe even literal) bodies are buried.

He also seems like they guy that would sell-out quickest.

Obviously I'd love for them to go for Farage. Pleasepleasepleaseplease....

The fact its a one and done charge, probably everything

Edit looks like he has

Pete Williams on MSNBC:

Papadopolous was arrested back on July 27, after returning to the country from London. He's cooperated with the authorities ever since.

Double edit further down the rabbit hole
Matthew Miller
@matthewamiller

The FBI interview where Papadopolous lied about his Russia contacts came on the same day, Jan. 27, Trump asked Comey for a loyalty pledge.

72/ If Trump ordered the GOP platform change after Papadopoulos laid out the Kremlin's interest in him—and he did—collusion has been proven.

my predictions is that Trump will go down kicking and screaming

Thank you kimbers and mehr, I've spent a good hour reading through those tweets and that Papadopoulos statement.

The investigation has been quietly gathering evidence for some time now, it's beyond question that Trump knew about collusion with Russians and that the timing of this was prior to the hacking of Clinton's emails, so it would appear that a quid pro quo agreement was in place before this happened (during the campaign, Trump alluded none too discretely that perhaps Russian hackers might like to dig dirt on Clinton).

We already have a GOP at war with itself. Sooner or later, the rank and file will have to make a choice as to whether to back Trump, or disavow him (and by extension Pence and the remnants of the Tea Party movement). Bannon appears to have planned for Trump's fall from office, no sane person would've bet the farm on Trump lasting in office a full term (in a recent interview, Bannon himself gave Trump a 30% chance of making it to January 2021 as president). It's certain to get very, very ugly.

102/ I want to make a perhaps obvious point: were Trump not a narcissist, we might expect him to resign the presidency this week. He's done.

I said about 3-4 months ago in this thread Drumpf would be done in 6 months. I honestly would still be surprised if I am right.

Trump is going no where. He’ll be President to the end of his term and then decide whether to run again.

We will see what else the FBI raise but so far it seems the Republicans have done much the same as did the Democrats - try and dig dirt on the opposition.

TJ I get most people think he’s nuts but for me and for most others it was two horrible candidates. The Americans decided he was the least bad. As above the Democrats and Clinton in particular where equally bad.

Anyway we shall see, IMO President Trump is going nowhere

the assertion concerns who they were digging with not whether other were also digging.
I very much doubt the trump supporters would be saying the same thing were the situation reversed and russian state agencies helped* him Hilary win with fewer votes.
The Americans decided he was the least bad
they did not as he did not get the majority of votes of americans- imagine if he wont he vote and lost the presidency what he would be saying now still!
I think we all agree both candidates had weaknesses, massive ones.

* this is not in dispute the only dispute is on collusion which is not proven at this point.

Sorry more clearly whether trump and his campaign team were actively engaged in it or whether they were ignorant of it - neither particularly paints them in a good light but the point is there is , as yet, no proof the president knew. Certainly some his family were happy to see if they could - not sure ineptitude is a defence- but the person was not up to their promises.

ye what he did in those two months and why they hired him are the real questions

Still not enough to prove Trump knew but I agree that manafort may well start throwing folk under a bus to protect himself - though I assume Donny will promise him a pardon for silence - at the end of his only term.
Interesting times ahead but o think we have all largely understood what has happened and dug into our trenches so the only real issue is whether the Republicans do anything. I think it harms them long term to ignore this personally as its just not a party political issue its a sovereignty of the nation issue and putting party before country will be a long term grave mistake.

President Trump will remain the President of USA for two terms easy because people will continue to support him.

Not one term but Two.

The people know that DemOncrat will only bring hardship to them, hence DemOncrat is out for a long time, very long time.

Hilary Clinton should remain in the media to lead DemOncrats to insult the President of USA.

All the current media circus will have No impact whatsoever on President Trump remaining as the President of USA.

chewk the american people have had their say, its the american legal system thats now calling the shots and Trump has colluded with a foreign power to sway the election

he is the swamp

as for this guy only working for him for a few months, parroting the trump teams press releases isnt very smart as theyve already been shown as lies... according to seth abramson-

Papadopoulos had a "limited" campaign role. FALSE. He was a top adviser and a primary liaison to other nations on Trump's Russia policy.

Papadopoulos went overseas for Trump and was one of the *only* NatSec team members kept on when the team disbanded in late July of 2016.

Papadopoulos was giving interviews on Trump's Russia policy to Russian media as late—possibly later—than *late September of 2016*.

All told, George Papadopoulos worked for Trump for *at least* seven months of the eleven-month campaign primary/general "voting" season.

Papadopoulos' outreach on the Kremlin's behalf was "repeatedly denied." FALSE. At all turns he was openly, clearly encouraged by emails.

Papadopoulos had no role in extra-campaign outreach. FALSE—he went to Israel for Trump, talked to Russian media for Trump and much else.

And of course we know from his sworn plea docs that "high-ranking campaign officials" authorized him to speak to (other) Kremlin agents.

Papadopoulos is described as "proactive cooperator." Former prosecutor tells me that sometimes means "wore a wire."

Nothing will come out of it as it's just another unnecessary hurdle in the life of politician. No big deal.

Colluded with foreign power that is so funny. 😆

If the American people don't like what President Trump is doing no amount of colluding in this world can make him a President. Nothing.
