Just been out for a ride in the sun, got my camera out to take some photos only to find the display screen is broken. When I switch the camera on the LCD is all white except a black 'star' where the pixels aren't working. I don't get any image. Some fine crack lines also become visible in the white area.
The camera is a Fuji F30 and I've been very happy with it, should I;
a) get Fuji to repair it, looks like their flat rate for all repairs is £88,
b) find a local shop to repair it, I'm near Bath,
c) buy a new camera beacause technology has moved on,
d) have a go at fixing it myself, never done anything like this so would need a good online guide.
Thanks
Should be a fairly simple, if fiddly, repair to drop in a new screen. Problem in you'll need to find a source for the screen (and maybe the casing if it's cracked too), which may work out more than the £88. At £88 I'd probably be considering a new camera.
a) see what they'll charge on top of that for a new screen/board/whatever it is that's busted;
b) no, cos they'll send it to Fuji or their local repairer and likley charge a handling fee on top;
c) do you want a new camera and have you seen one in your budget range?
d) No, unless you're an electronic engineer with experience of this sort of thing.
Or, how about giving Fuji UK a ring and seeing who they reccommend as a service centre, then ring them and get a quote. Your dilemma will be solved in about a minute if they can give you an idea of what it's likely to cost.
eBay it as spares or repair and put the money towards a new one.
