IIRC you or a mate had an issue with Merlin and I went into speak about it - was it a light? Years ago old forum iirc

Oh yeeeah! Did we talk on the phone? Blimey, I think I remember. Was I nice? (It was a headset)

It either that or I dream about you

That came after 😉

I tend not to ask people I meet if they're on stw 'cos they only ask what my username is and then I have to try explain how to pronounce it.

Strangely wwaswas I was on a ride with a few of the guys from here (met via t'interweb) and we had a discussion about the pronounciation of your name, I fought your corner!

I live with one! I also have a couple of friends that are members of STW, but I knew them before. I haven't met anyone off here whom i didn't already know.

This was by a bloke with a santa cruz with enve wheels.

Several folk have recognised me over the years for my bike from here, quite odd.

🙂 Only one [transporter13], nice chap.

Wanted to meet people 'round Bradders, but not happened yet due to Uni work overload, boo. Soon though [B.A.Nana, I'm thinking of you and your trail].

camo16 - I think I owe you a hug?

"So, you guys post on STW?"

That came up when we were on holiday. I did cringe a bit but apparently, I'm "one of the normal ones". Cheers Tony!

Yes, a few. However, one has given up stw (still rides) and now bothers model plane flyers, and another has turned to road full time so spends his life sweating on strava.

Not knowingly met anyone from here.

But I have met and socialised with, and become very good friends with people from certain band forums. When you like a niche type of music the community is quite small and everyone knows everyone. I was once ranted at by a bloke at a gig in Birmingham who happened to "know me" from a forum and took exception to something I'd said about 6 months earlier. Very odd. 😯

I once went to a meetup in Glasgow for the Baby Chaos mailing list. I'd been there about 2 minutes before it erupted into a hillbilly bar brawl. I missed the ending, due to running away, but I'm told it involved police statements like "And then Selfabuse lamped Bigbaws with a barstool, but he pure deserved it because of what he said about the last Therapy? album, the ****."

That's yet to happen at an STW ride, for me. Still, there's always hope.

I've met and ride/socialise with a couple of guys through here.

Most of my mates keep an eye on the site just to see if I'm slagging them off though....

Northwind.

For me it's the introducing yourself as your username. 😳

Although in fairness everyone I know from the music forums calls me Shed anyway. And my gig buddy is Gig Buddy. The locals on one got forum t-shirts printed with a limited design on them that only forumites could order through the bands website. I've seen many at unrelated gigs. Still embarrassing though.

We're like Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter. We keep our relationship fresh and alive by having separate houses next to each and meeting up down the boozer to discuss porn.

I've heard that some people talk about Mountain Biking in pubs, but it's all rather hush hush as they're social lepers....

Ive been on 2 forum rides and everyone I've met has been great.

Went on one around Rivington late last year that I think Junkyard organised and have been on the Monday night Preswich one.

Like has been said, probably wouldn't recognise everyone again.

Met Muddydwarf by the roadside at 1.30 am.......he was doing the Manchester to Blackpool Night Ride.

Really must get out again on Mondays but work has gone busy again

I've met a few, on a few solo rides down south, and a gang of miscellaneous northerners including Rusty Spanner, binners, Harry the Spider I think and several others who I forget who they were on here. They were cracking rides and everyone was dead nice but they all introduced each other with their real names so I got really bloody confused.

I've met Fred a few times and he calls me mol. But then I called him Fred too without even thinking about it so that makes sense 🙂

Oh and most recently I met 5thElefant and his crew at Mayhem, they were dead friendly and nice too 🙂

I've met loads, but it's to late to turn the clock back now, what has been seen cannot be unseen! (and no, eye bleach does not work)
It was a blast though 😉

I went on an STW ride out once.

I rode really badly, and fell off.

Twice.

Ride with a couple (not in the dogging sense)!

But rather sadly, I always assume that any other cyclist is automatically a forum member!!! Then it's guess the name time. Imagine the looks you get when you ask someone whether they are "hora" (sorry, hora!!!). I am always surprised at how few people are actually members!

Been on two of Pook's exercises in how many STWers you can string out across the Peaks, everyone was very friendly and cake happened too!! 😀

Also bumped in to RichPips and his lad in the Woodbine one afternoon, again cake happened. 😀

Just remembered that I briefly met Plumber at the start of Hit The North in February. He recognised me from the 2 luttle rubber ducks on my helmet!
