I know a fair few people on here (i.e. that I know through the forum) and see a few of them on a regular basis. I also have friends who've never even heard of STW

Ha! You know they don't really exist don't you. They're all part of the AI system. Which means I don't exist either. Or is it you?

The Soft Southern Shandy Drinkers (Krew) get together fairly regularly. If only once a year at the Big Bike Bash! Wouldn't know each other if it wasn't for STW.

Your all welcome to pop round though

Audi-driving, Orange-riding IT Managers are notoriously anti-social.

I've spent a lot of time with loads of them but sadly they're real (and mostly nice) people. I work with two but they don't know that I know.
That reminds me. I got my current job through a very nice forum member to whom I owe coffee and cake......or a few choice words....the jury is out ๐Ÿ™‚

Several, but then I know them mostly from other (not necessarily MTB) forums.

Met and rode with quite a few several years ago including some of the old skool crew; Smudger, Suicide Dave among others. Don't think I can remember many of the usernames of any of those I've ridden with in recent years.

I know a few folks from STW locally, socialise as much as I do with anyone (post ride beer!)

No. Meeting people off the internet is a bit wierd and potentially dangerous.

Know a few folk on here but I know them from when I was at Uni rather than through STW. If there was a 'forum' ride near me I would probably pop along.

There are several people with whom I'm 'real life' friends independent of the forum, and several people I meet periodically for rides having met via the forum.

So yes.

Miss njee20 is always rather apprehensive when I go to meet someone from here for a ride, lest they be an axe-wielding maniac or similar. Not happened yet though.

Did organise a Surrey Hills ride a few years back, a lot of folk turned up actually, so I've met quite a number.

Non of them actually worked in IT, rode a five or had an Audi either..

A few people I know in rel life, but they're all friends/aquaintances who use STW, not met via STW.

A few but not that regular and still in touch with many members of past. I've met many great people thanks to STW many of them I class as really good friends now and some as best friends. I've had the chance to ride in various parts of the UK with them and the Alps, been some great times and fond memories I will always have. Sadly had to say farewell to 2 in recent years.

I tend not to ask people I meet if they're on stw 'cos they only ask what my username is and then I have to try explain how to pronounce it.

Plus I might have upset them online at some point ๐Ÿ˜‰

When are you going to come for a ride down here Mike?
I've also been contacted through forums to show people around the local trails & also done the same on my travels.

If you mean have made contact with other riders through STW, then a qualified yes -- have met a few folk, all too infrequently, through this forum or from Gofar predecessor.. Not many though, the folk I know and meet up with happen to be on STW rather than because of it.

well I've met people who *claim* to be on here.

I dunno though, they seem completely different in real life. Smaller, and less aggressive.

Don't think I've met anyone off this forum but I've been on quite a few rides with people from Mtb Britain, great lot over there and I need to go out more with them, its been ages since I did a group ride ๐Ÿ™‚

Works the other way around I've found: met them in real life and then later discovered they are on here...it's unfortunately too late to avoid them by then but I'm sure the feeling is mutual ๐Ÿ˜€

same as TINAS, I'm friends with a few people who also happen to be on here, as opposed to friends with them because they're on here.

There are also a few that I'm sure are also on here from rides that we've been on together, etc., but i still don't know who they are on here. One in particular, I'm pretty sure I know who it is but I'm not certain and I'm not sure if i want to know for sure either.

Ive slept in the back of a people carrier with one, and enjoyed it so much I went on holiday with him. I may have known him outside of here though.

There is one member I used to ride with about 10-12 years ago, though I think hes forgotten me ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Yes. I have three mates who I just would not know at all if i had never been on stw. But they are well outnumbered by riding mates who I knew already or have met without the aid of the internetz.

met glupton via here , group rides and went to SSEC with him. hes not a bad lad - just cant resist the low lying fruit for trolling when bored ๐Ÿ˜‰

SingleSpeeddan i met on here when i first moved to aberdeen and he showed me the local trails - last weekend i helped him build a bike shed.

met rusty mac a few times - usually doing each other favours - i checked over a wheel build for him and sorted out his gears - he gave me a 2 cube of scrap wood for burning ๐Ÿ˜€ (i emptied his garden of diy waste in the process ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

You mean when your butler has forgotten to arrange the black tie ball again, you have to lower yourself to meeting STWers... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes, met loads of people off here. Some have even been relatively normal. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've met Molgrips and his car.

His car is a lot nicer in real life than it is on here.

^^^^ ๐Ÿ˜†

I have met him and molgrips , both at the same time as well!

Almost everyone I ride with I met through STW and they range from folk I wish I did not know to proper mates/lifelong friends.
Not sure how many I "know"* but I have ridden with about 100 ish as a guess?? Some I would not recognise again or remember [ as I am sure is the case for them with me]

Best aspect of STW is the riding and the surprise that comes from realising even the serial trolls are rather normal [ dull IME} in real life/.

* probably about 10 ish I could text/ email call re a ride

The only one I 'know' of is scotroutes, and we're linked via Google+ as I think he's really kewl ๐Ÿ™‚

(I don't think he knows this. I will make this info known to him.)

It was the rough camping stuff he does that drew me in. Its something I intend to try and thought he'd be a good bloke to know, sounded like a decent guy, and we're not a million miles from each other geographically.

I'm aware of how "WLTM" that all sounds ๐Ÿ™‚
