Just watched yesterdays on BBCi and couldn't help but remember the Tom Hanks film "Big" with the arcade machine - idea nicked perhaps?

I really want to think that the new Doctor will be as good as his predecessor but I'm sadly disappointed with the first two episodes.

Also the angels from "Blink" feature in the previews - another mistake, they should not be reusing them IMO.

Apart from Miss Pond's nightie being too long, I far preferred this weeks to last.

Two good solid episodes to start with. I think that this guy has got real potential. Oh and next week, Spitfires in space and Daleks! Oh YES!

I think the new guy's pretty good. Seems to have that whole eccentric genius but approachable and matey thing pretty much nailed. It's funny, too. Disco!

Tea-spittingly funny 😆

As for Amy Pond - Beast below, I should think so........

Felt a wee bit rushed/crowded, they had too much going on so they never really explained some parts adequately, they could pretty much have done away with the regenerating mask guys ad it'd have made a bit more sense... But I still liked it. New doctor still doesn't seem to have really come into his own yet, and some bits of the script were a bit too overstated- "Kind, and old, and kind and old, and the last of its kind, and kind despite being the last of its kind" etc.

Still. Liked it. Nice horrible impossible moral decision...

"Ah yes, Titanic in space - original."

What about it was like Titanic? I am confused.

Northwind: with the previous Doctor they had an episode with the Titanic in space (soon to be Spitfires in space) - my ref was towards too much rehashing what worked before instead of new and original ideas.

Liked this doctor and assistant from the off. Worst assistant of the new crop has to go to feema whats her face. Since there using darleks and cycber men in the first half dozen episodes going to be interesting to see what its all building to.

What did he say when he zoomed through the tube and landed on the tongue with his assistant? Something about "must be Lancashire"? Cheeky sod.

I'm liking the new episodes so far - hell of an act to follow, and they're doing it well.

Next week's pormises to be all my airfix kits coming to life with daleks. Top banana!

Terry Pratchett.

Hmmm, my thoughts too, bit dissapointed so far, new Doctor would have better off been cast as a bad guy imho, has that evil look to him 😉

Well that's what my little one asked as she watched him in the first episode.

"Dad is he the good or bad guy"

Hope it gets better....

Well, that's the question, isn't it. That's what I liked about Tennant, and there was a flash of it with Matt Smith, you never know when the beast beneath is going to show itself. Few of the Doctors in the past really showed their dangerous side, William Hartnell always scared me as a kid, I just thought there was something underneath that could turn very nasty indeed. One thing everyone here is rather forgetting; Dr Who is really designed to be scaring kids shitless. We are adults and are criticising it from a more sophisticated adult viewpoint.
I'm really enjoying it, I think Matt is going to develop into a fine Doctor, and Amy is a feisty Companion too.

Dont see too much wrong with bringing back the angels so long as timey wimey doesnt appear again as a catch phrase, didnt sound right coming from this doctor. Thought clockwork robots would have been a one trick pony but they brought them back in this episode.
