[#13536496]

I've had two -  and seemingly ones living quite close by-  but never actually met them.

One had held up a local bank (very local in that it was the branch I banked with)  and looked so much like me, not just in terms of face but clothing and soon - which was 'distinctive' at the time. I had to carry a card given to me by CID to show the police each time they'd thought they'd caught him.

At a later date I met someone in the pub who reckoned I must have must have lived in their house before them (probably about 10-15 doors down the road from where I was living)  as amongst the stuff left behind by previous tenants was a strip of passport pics of me. Definitely not pics of me as I could account for every photobooth pic I'd need to have taken at the time.

I look enough like the King of Spain that I got a lot of double takes when I was skiing in the resort he goes to and it's always an icebreaker with restaurant staff.

I actually don't know what the King of Spain looks like so the only image that springs to mind is the Habsburgs 🙂

A mate reckons I'm the spit of Alan Shearer. A few other randoms have said so too, including one pissed up Geordie on a train who wouldn't have it that I wasn't.  Can't see it myself, I'm way more easy on the eye..... 👀🫣🧑‍🦯

When I was younger, more hair etc people sometimes said "You look just like Ben Elton" but now I'm early 60s it probably no longer holds true. And he doesn't have a grey beard.

He’s not a bad looking guy, especially as Kings go.  I recon we need photos though.

I have twice been mistaken for Guy Martin (before he cut his hair and I got my ponytail, that crossover when we both had medium length). I'm also originally from Lincolnshire so our accents are fairly similar too. I told him this when I met him at Relentless a few years ago and he thought it was hilarious.

I have two friends who look like Jensen Button and Daniel Riccardo. If the later could work on his accent I wonder what we could blag our way into? FOS could be fun! At least until the first massive crash gives us away...

.

Also in my student days I got stopped by the police as they thought I was someone else, no idea who

I've been told I look like Craig Adams from The Mission. Both very attractive young men.

I've had people say I look like the actor Jesse Birdsall and the bloke who pilots Airwolf (though both were some years ago!).

This thread reminded me of what popped up earlier.

That's rubbish. On the right here is the bloke who runs my local bar. He's called Andy.

In other news, I apparently look like Harold Shipman!

Step daughters ex got mistaken for Chris Froome a fair amount, played along with it sometimes too.

I became friends with my doppelganger in my late teens after being mistaken for him a few times & got told off by his mum when I popped round to see him once - she thought he'd skipped off work early...

I was once stopped by the police in the eastend of glasgow and asked where the Belgrove Hotel was.

As it happens its a bit of architectural history and listed so gave them directions and they drove off.

I can only assume I matched the appearance of atleast one of the clientele. So either a ranging alkie, a drug addict of sex offender.

Also i looked a bit like Charlie Adams. If you are going to look like a footballer in glasgow try and pick a footballer who doesn't play for a glasgow team...

I have a few that have been noticed over time.

The famous one though is Brad Pitt - you may scoff, but it's not much of an accolade. It's when I was young and had long hair and the comparison came when he was in An Interview With a Vampire, looking very vampirey

Chuck Norris and Paddy Considine. Obviously nobody actuallly thought I was Chuck Norris, but a couple of times people needed some convincing that I wasn't actually Paddy Considine keeping a low profile. Haven't heard either for a while now though.

I’ve been told I look a fair bit like Jose Mourinho. Can’t quite see it myself but clearly something in it. Maybe it’s my grumpy demeanour.

This thread reminded me of this though which always raises a smile.

Occasionally Mark Wahlberg has been accused as looking like me. Oddly sometimes Roy Keane too.

Especially when my hair was black.

opposite Crown Point - an athletics venue that we frequent a few times a year...an interesting area to say the least

When I first moved to Oz and had a job that involved a lot of telephone work I was christened Jamie by colleagues because I apparently sounded so much like Jamie Oliver. I grew up pretty close to him so maybe... but I never said "Pukka" or "Happy Days" to them so not so sure about that.

I was at a petrol station once a few years ago (possibly in England but I can't remember exactly) and the guy serving me accused me of being someone i'd never heard of. He was pretty convinced and thought I was pretending otherwise. I had to ask him again who it was. I've forgotten now, but I looked him up and he was an American actor famous for a show I didn't know.

I have met an actual doppelganger, once.  It was in a pizza shop or chippie or some such.  The likeness was so remarkable I though it was a mirror until he moved.  I think we both kinda didn't know what to say so pretended we hadn't seen each other, but it was clear we'd both clocked each other.

It was, I must say, deeply unsettling.

I went on an organised mountain bike holiday in France, many moons ago, and someone pointed out that I looked a bit like Dave Stewart, from the Eurythmics, and, tbf, there was some resemblance, as I actually had longish hair, and similar facial hair as well. So, I spent the next week being called Dave… 🙄

I the early 70s I would hear "Donny Osmond" whispered behind me in crowded places.  Today when I show my senior Railcard and people think "where have I seen him before?" I point out that it was Jeffrey Epstein's mugshot .

so the guy with the long hair in this vid, is not me, but looks very very similar (albeit a few years ago) to the point my daughter was convinced it was me.

An early season of Big Brother back when it was huge had a contestant that was my exact double. Some people thought it was me at first.

Seeing yourself near naked in national newspapers is unsettling.

When I was young and had hair I looked a bit like Peter Cunnah from D:Ream. image.png

Now I'm older, bald and a bit craggy I don't.

Just googled Mr Cunnah. He is old and craggy, but still has hair. Whether it is his or not is open for debate.

30 years (tears?) ago, people were dumbfounded with my apparent cameo in the Peugeot ad @ .39

which was nothing compared to my other ‘cameo’ in Big City Orchestra’s

“The Beatlerape”.

18+ viewer discretion recommended!

In a previous employment, there was another person in the online email address book with my exact name.

But he was the MD and I most certainly wasn't.  Shame I didn't get his pay rate for the hours I spent replying to incorrectly addressed emails.

On BBC news once I saw the mugshot of a colleague, on the run, wanted for murder or rape or armed robbery or something pretty serious. But then the newsreader (maybe in a later broadcast) gave a different name.

If we're doing videos,

Some say the guy at @23s in Terrorvision's "gotta want to be happy" video looks just like me.

Because it is.
