Evening all.
In September we're getting the ferry from San Malo which arrives in Portsmouth at about 18.30.
Where would be a good place to stay thats about 30 minutes from the port
I'm thinking a nice pub where we can get a meal thats more countryside than city!
Thanks for any advice
what direction - temptation is to assume A3 but don't want to assume too much. And what day, some pubs don't serve late on a sunday if at all in the evening. And what vibe - cheap rustic or a bit boujie?
IDK really for staying but there's a few nice pubs around the Petersfield area, I used to visit a company there but it was 10 years ago. Half Moon rings a bell.
If you are going north and can go further on the A3 direction, Bel and the Dragon at Churt/Elstead is nice, again haven't stayed as it's relatively local but food is decent, if a little pricey (Cheeseburger £20, 1/2 chicken £23 sort of price, not remortgage level), similarly Stag on the River at Lower Eashing
Assuming you mean staying in the pub...
Hawkley Inn - Hawkley
The Bucks Head - Corhampton
The White Hart - South Harting
The Cricketers - Steep
Not stayed at any of them but they all do accommodation. There are better pubs in the area (that don't do accommodation), but these are not bad and all rural (well, in smallish villages).
Fantastic
thank you.
yes, we’re heading north and its a Sunday so getting to somewhere before they stopped food was the plan.
Clearly all dependent on getting off the boat in food time
