Has anyone used a DJI Osmo (the one with the its own camera), what's the battery life like?
I shot this for the Rapha competition and even with stabilisation in FCP the handheld wobbly bits annoy me.
Yes we own one. We have the zenmuse 3 and 5 cameras.
It's a staggering piece of kit for the money.
Battery isn't great as it's driving a gimbal, wireless and a camera. Looking at around 30-60 mins on time depending on usage.
But batteries are cheap.
Remember the point is to be selective with your shots. Not to film everything on it. That said you can do so much. The zenmuse 3 is good enough for most applications but is fixed focus and long depth of field which is great for most moving shots.
It's probably the best £/value piece of kit we've ever ever bought. And that's in a year of inspires, phantoms and slide purchases.
The quality is much improved by the m4/3 zenmuse 5. But is even worse on battery . And much more expensive. There is also a zoom lens version and mobile version.
It's not quite a steadicam replacement but it's good enough for lots of scenarios. Like all good bits of kit you need to plan what your filming with it to get the best results.
There's a bike mount too but I've not had much success with that yet.
Some nice composition in your film. Would've benefitted from some filming shots from a bike perhaps? You can do that with the Osmo.
Thanks for the info. Yep, I tried shooting from the bike with my camera and got lots of rolling shutter. ;(
I've backed the flowmotion one on kickstarter, which just ended, but you can still pre-order it, supposedly doesn't have the issues the DJI has and has some very cool features, supposed to ship in April... hopefully...
