A small area of grout in our shower enclosure (just around one tile) had perished a bit and was causing a small leak. I have ground out the grout using a grout rake and have re-grouted with Mapai Fix and Grout – I got this, rather than standard grout in case I needed to re-seat the tile (which I didn't need to do). On the packaging it says 7-14 days before "the area can be put to full service". That sounds incredibly cautious and I was thinking 48 hours would be more than enough for such a small area.
Opinions please!
Well surely the worst thing that happens is the grout fails... And the next time you leave it for 14 days?
I think it means leave for 7 to 14 days before use if you are using it to stick the tiles on the wall as the adhesive will need to set fully before you start to spray water on it. I've never left grout that long in a shower, a couple of days should be more than enough in my experience.
But as @joshvegas says, what's the worst that could happen?
From the Screwfix product Q&A
Q: I've used this to patch up the grout where cracked or damaged in the shower. I'm confused by some previous answers regarding how long I need to wait before using the shower - 7 or 14 days? Thanks
A: after 7-14 days depending on the absorption of the surface Mapei Team
