why dont they develop remote control craft with no sealing so that all componentry can work in the presence of sal****er, then you wouldnt need to put up with the pressure thang?

or is that really stupid?

Stoner - stuff needs to be sealed cos of all the electrical bits & bobs. Unless you can use massive clockwork motors and develop a camera that works in water you'll need some sealing. I'm not even sure there are any ROVs that are capable of Full Ocean Depth (or 11km).

what if all the electronics were coated in a PVC film, no air. Motors would be tricky I agree - maybe some kind of mgnetic propulsion system 😉

Will there be any angry sharks with laser beams?

If not, I'm out.

How does the remote control system work? (I've not googled)

Stick to graphs 😉 it's the pressure that's the issue.

Resistors, capacitors, chips etc will all crush and change characteristics under pressure. 1100 bar is a lot.

A recent approach we've taken is to pot everything in an epoxy resin like in this sea mammal tag
