Clearview have told me that I could do with an 8kw stove which means that it would be a tiny bit too big to fit inside the existing fireplace recess.
This is not really a problem as the hearth is big enough for the stove to sit in front of the recess, but there is an existing wooden fire surround that would be approx 280mm away from the side of the stove. Any knowledgable woodstove chaps know if this is OK?

Hearth is plenty big enough. The diagrams ^^ there show "At least 150mm or to a suitably heat hesistant wall" Is that it? If so I've got plenty of room ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you asked Clearview what they recommend for the stove?

Don't they recommend an air brick for stoves over 5kw as well?

[been getting some quotes recently from HETAS installers and its amazing as to the differences in what they say I need and don't, been a real minefield!]

Sent an email to Clearview as well so will report back. Might do a dedicated external air feed.
