My work does an invitational every year and I got to go this year. All the top boys bring along their toys and we get to drive them.
My car is a Diesel Golf and I always thought it was rapid when it needed to be but the cars today were amazing and my reviews are as follows
Golf GT TDI 170 (mine) - OK brakes over heated and was a bit soft.
Fiat 500 Abarth - Absolutely amazing fun
Clio 202 Cup FIA Race Spec - Great car handles really well and uber pokey
Lotus Exige Race Car - Gives you loads of confidence to really push it but there was definitely a limit (spun it twice braking mid corner)
Audi R8 V10 - Super fast without really feeling like it and is very forgiving in the hands of a novice racer
Shelby GT350 - I was really careful with it but went round with an instructor driving and he scared the sh*t out of me and showed what it can really do
Audi Quattro with RS4 Engine - another car where you need to be very skilled to get the best out of it but still a lot of fun.
Haven't caught the racing bug as I could only watch on a the cars got refueled all day had brakes replaced and tires ruined all at mega cost but it was fun when you don't have to pick up the bill.
