Dell have got an intel i7 desktop on offer for £549 at the moment. This is coming in about £150 cheaper than a similar spec. PC from PCSpecialist. Is it better to spend the extra or is Dell going to be ok?

Thanks

Rich.

No links for the PCSpecialist as it's a "configure your own" job.

We're on our second home Dell. The first one was fine, and lasted years, but this one sucks completely. BSODs about every 1 or 2 hours and random reboots. I've spent hours on the phone to Dell getting very very worked up. Apparently it's a software issues not a hardware issue and the software is only covered for 3 months. SOGA apparently doesn't apply. If I want it fixed then I have to pay.

Please don't buy Dell.

I've been using Dell computers for over 15 years (1 PC and 2 Laptops). I've found them to be very reliable. I've only had to contact Dell once for a faulty switch on a laptop, which was resolved quickly.

Have a look on the Dell Outlook website to see if they have a similar spec computer for even cheaper.

Walk away, then.

Ping me tomorrow if you want help with that.

I d carefully check the spec list. I ve had two pic s from pcspecialist both have been faultless. They use branded parts for everything rather than cheaper components. I d go pcspecialist every time.

Have got a couple of Dells and a newish box from PC Specialist. Not much to choose between them other than the PC Specialist doesn't come with all the McAfee and Office trials that are bundled with the Dell. Just Windows and that's it.

Would buy another one from PC Specialist customer their service is most excellent

I've had 5 or 6 PC's from PC specialist for work, all required a reinstall of the OS, which kinda sucked.
