Will I need to treat it before use? I've got lots of fence paint will this kill the flowers?
No. Yes. Line it.
Decking often does work very well - depends how deep you're planning on making them (on tall RB's they can bow outwards if not properly staked). You're probably better off using a fencing stain (Black always looks really good) rather than a paint. Only stain the outside of the boards, else you'll get chemicals in the soil, more of an issue for veg than flowers tho.
Line it to prevent direct soil contact or it will rot out in just a few years.
I can have 38mm or 19mm thick. Is 38 overkill?
We are only going 1 plank high.
Thicker the better, so defo 38mm.
