Time for some recommendations.
Not fussed about type of cuisine.
What you got?
Polpo or polpetto, spuntino, Andrew Edmunds , Bocca de lupo, grt queen street restaurant.
Pitt que club or meat liquor but more for a fast lunch.
Barrafina in Soho is my favourite restaurant in London. Only good for small groups though as you can't book in advance
Sophie's, Covent Garden. Cracking steak, ribs, etc.
Boedean's, Soho. Rib-tastic.
NB - Neither of these take bookings, and can get rather busy. Rightly so, but worth noting
Soho Japan, Dean Street - scarily authentic Japanese right down to the Japanese clientele
Further North is the Gilbert Scott at St Pancras, it in the renovated Great Eastern Hotel, worth it for the building alone.
Boedean's, Soho. Rib-tastic.
I'd vote Pitt Cue Co. also in Soho as having the better food if you want barbecue. Probably harder to get a table though, and not a place for a very long dinner.
Polpetto is very good food, but not quite as good value as a quick glance at the menu suggests it might be, as the dishes are pretty small. Still thoroughly recommended though.

Thanks guys. Any recommendations for china town? (Yes I know - but thought it worth a go!)
