Rode the classic Jacobs/Hayfield loop including Middle Moor/Lantern Pike and noticed some new DCC signage, stating that the road up to Blackshaw Farm was not a bridleway or cycle path, but only allows footpath access.

Anyone had any issues still riding up there and know if it's viewed any different to any other footpath, as other signs state its a private road

No bother either way, just means a bit of a longer route up to Lantern Pike

It's been like that for a while now.

Can't help thinking it might be at the request of the folks at the posh house at the top.

I tend to use the road to get up to the bridleway these days but it is a little bit longer, and no less steep!

As Naranjada says above, we started sticking to the bw. Just didn't want any hassle, even though the fp is completely tarmaced.

Kinda thought as much (posh house residents request) oh well, like I said it's no bother to take the other route and don't want to P off anyone for the sake of a couple of minutes.

Aye. Started taking the alternate a couple of times , but completely forgot the signs last time up there. Got half way up and remembered - thought better of turning round - obviously(!!). Chap was in the garden walking towards the path, sheep even got nervous to the right of the house. He didn't say a word! I was expecting it though.
