Hello. Just back from iDave'ing an F1 team.

The 3 week thing was in the very first iDave thread - as in 'try it for three weeks and if it doesn't work fine, but I think you'll be surprised'. It's not a three week 'diet' though, it's a change in long term eating.

so what's this 75 mins exercise thing ?

this from the idave pdf

Exercise
notes

If you have undertaken more than 30 minutes of intense training, have 30 grams simple carbs and 10 grams protein within 20 minutes.

If youโ€™re training will be for more than 60 minutes, take on board 30 grams carbs per hour during the exercise.

If youโ€™re training will be for more than 90 minutes, take on board 30 grams carbs 90 mins before the session, and 30 grams per hour during the exercise.

is this info no longer valid ?

Look, may I respectfully suggest that rather than trying to nail iDave down to one statement that fits all.

Perhaps better to try some of the things like TM's quote ^^^^, and see if it works.
Ultimately, it has to be a bit of trial and error on the individuals part, in order to tailor your dietary requirements, to your lifetyle / exercise regime.

Looking up while on bended knee, at the alter of iDiet, hoping for that devine, one size fits all, instruction.
May be a little optimistic.

iDave himself has pointed out on a few occasions that the advice he has given is a broad guideline only.
After which, you're supposed to go find the detailed answer which suits you.
๐Ÿ™‚

These threads are still useful for exchange of food ideas and encouragement, such as it may be.

Enjoy.

The carbs during exercise is for intense stuff, not sure a commute counts... I could be wrong.

Ah, so you want iDave to taylor a specific carb consumption plan for you, right here and now.
You're too lazy and unimaginative to try varying the carbs for your commute to see what you feel best on / gets you the results you're after.
Which, btw, is what exactly ?.

Oooo. Now who's being constructive ?.

I think its the numpties that can't think for themselves and pester iDave for the specific instruction for them and them alone.
That ruin threads.
You're asking how many grams of carbs, etc
But you're not even saying what your goals are.
Weight loss only ?.
Competiton ?.
What ?.

None taken, I did say I can seem to be a bit abrasive.

But wheres the harm in a few people just giving it some thought, and self observation, rather than just bleeting.

Oh, but iDave, the other day you said this
and
Oh, iDave, now you're saying that

I don't want to be -ve, but as someone on here once posted.

Fortunately, when you take up that position (nice portrait), you're still capable of seeing the monitor.
Whether you read it is another issue.
Of course.

Edit.
Might you not make more use of a razor too.
Shaving may help cut down on your drag while on the bike....

I've just watched the link tazzy put up. Wow! I want to go climbing now! I've got no sound in work - why is he climbing (mostly) without his feet (assume its for training?) The overhang that i couldn't do on sunday is bugging me, but i'm just not strong enough to hold all of my weight on one arm at such an angle yet. I've been watching people climb upside down across the ceiling and finish by hanging upside down on their toes... that's my goal! ๐Ÿ™‚

And to go back to idave, on the coffee/fat burning question...i've read loads that says that coffee helps burn fat and also helps you exercise for longer. I've also read though that it raises blood sugar levels. Presumably this doesn't apply to black coffee, just coffee with milk? *looks at the inch of milk in my coffee and shakes head*

I haven't seen Mol on this thread - how you getting on?

I have the pre/post exercise carbs for intense 1 hour sessions where my heart monitor suggests a calorie burn of 800 - 900 during the hour. I tried a session without pre-carbs a couple of weeks ago and really struggled.

what can replace the truly fantastic qualities of All Bran cereal in the iDave world?

I seem to be virtually running on iDave without knowing it but the digestive system does seem to require that extra turbo charge that only All Bran seems to provide.

theres a room like that at mile end climbing wall, I spend quite a bit of time in there - it's practice and conditioning, same as riding bikes, racing xc etc...

null

Why is it every idiet thread just results in people whinging about whats actually involved... If you don't want to do it great, fine, bye. Don't start with the 'that's impossible' 'I can't live without...' etc etc... If you want to lose weight it works (ive lost over 2 stone since May last year and find it quite easy to keep it off - another half a stone to go for may this year), if you don't then let people that do find out what's what and not have trawl through pages of bickering... again...

A litre or so of proper coffee usually has an "effect" more powerful than All Bran.

Minimum of 2.5 litres every day. Much more on training days.

I haven't seen Mol on this thread - how you getting on?

Hi everyone ๐Ÿ™‚ I was in Staines yesterday for a two day team meeting. No iDave food available apart from lunch on Monday - a seasoned pork steak with what they called sweet potato 'salsa' but really it was a hash of peppers, chilies, sweet potatoes, onions, and tomatoes in a big serving to accomany the meat. With green beans it was a lovely iDiet meal.

Re those pull-ups - I used to do pull ups with my finger tips on a door frame, and I can still do a few although it hurts my finger joints more than anything else. It's not that hard, I am and always was a terrible climber.

As a teenager, all the architraves in the house had been loosened by my climbing training. 6b was best I could do. Once. With Jonny Dawes.

Well I am down 10 3/4lbs now so something is working

And some of it has come down to sheer bl00dy mindedness about not giving in to a sugar craving on the occasional afternoon.

I havent drunk coffee or normal tea without Milk and Sugar for Years....

But I am now drinking Black coffee quite happily, and tea with milk but without sugar on Cheat days.....why ?

Because I wanted to lose weight and change my eating habits ๐Ÿ˜‰

Its working for me, and I`ll continue with it.

I bought Tim Ferris`s book though as it made the iDave info easier to understand

Well as this thread is still running I feel i should post an update - I've felt really good all week, not felt hungry once and I've really enjoyed all the food I've had. Being forced to be a bit more creative with food is almost the best bit.
I went for a jog last night and found it much easier than usual, and with no additional effort I was 15sec/km faster, I finished stronger and didn't feel like I was held back by my bouncy belly.
Couldn't resist a go on the scales and I'm 1.9kg lighter than Sunday morning!! Now Im sure much of that is water through not being bloated, but who cares, it's water that's no longer padding out my shirts and slowing me down!

Can't wait for a cookie or 9 on Saturday tho!

^^^^^^^ oh yes!

I plan to hit the plan proper next Monday, but have been 'warming up' this week. So far so good and 3lb lost since Sunday. Just been for a night ride, my first for well over five years and I was a little apprehensive as I thought I'd not have as much energy. How wrong. ๐Ÿ˜€ . Our lead took us on a 25km+ loop and I have not felt as strong for years, I was able to keep the power down for much longer than usual. Even changing down on ascents to push harder... ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Will be keeping this up for a while. Why oh why did I wait 20 years??? Thanks Dave.
