Something about thermogenisis and stimulating fat oxidation... that's off wiki but I've read of studies showing it to work. Whether they've been STW double peer blind reviewed or not I don't know, but I like Green Tea and coffee so I'll keep drinking them.

spose you could try gram flour, as the flour is having a batter-ish effect on the courgettes, and it works OK in a similar context with, say, bhajis. But you might get some of that bitter-ish chickpea taste - gram flour isn't as neutral in taste terms as plain flour.

Ah, Ok then. I know what you mean about the taste of plain gram flour, when I had a crack at the flat breads.

But iDave and a few other ingenius types have posted some tasty sounding gram flour flatbread recipes including stuf like carraway, etc.

Perhaps an STW iChef could consult on developing a juiced up flour mix to coat stuff in, where the seasoning totally overwhlems the gram flour ?.
If its just gram flour, with a load of, but the correct combo of, spices, etc. Then thats got to be a plan worth trying ?.

Furthermore, I did recently enjoy some sweet potato chips at a posh hotel near Cov.
Very impressed and I think sweet potato maybe Ok, jut now and again ?.....

I thought that the caffeine in the coffee and more so the stuff in green tea has been shown to aid weight loss?

Care to excalibrate that, please

If true, I'd be interested to know how that happens.
(genuine request for enlightenment, esp as iDave never mails me anymore )

Doesn't caffeine temporarily boost your metabolism?

Oh, so there may be more to the coffee then, than just having a hot drink on the iDiet.

That fat oxidation stuff. Is that what happens when them body builder types write about thermo-g'nade thingys ?.

I believe there's plenty of evidence for coffee boosting fat loss when drunk within the 30 mins preceeding exercise.

GT - I think you have to get in something like 4 cups a day for the benefits.

Yes, to the bodybuilder thermowotzits.

Although I'm prepare for iDave to come along and tell me this is all rubbish.

And apparently according to 4HB book, Grapefruit juice (on cheat day)or any other Citrus juice prolongs the fat burning effects of caffeine

Oh my lordy, who'd have thought that ?.
Sounds interesting, but high acidity fruits melt my teeth and I'm still not going to read 4HB.... yet.
๐Ÿ˜‰

TSY, you still Hooked up ?.

I thought sweet potatoes were OK? Not "white carbs" since they're not white, as in, they don't have that starchy quality. Aren't they more low-GI than yer standard spud, and as permissible as any other root vegetable, like swedes or carrots?

They seem more akin to a squash or a pumpkin than a potato, flavour and texture-wise.

TSY- frenchies are fun typewriters are grim, offset typewriters (one hand down in a climbing sling) make me want to puke more than a hard campus board session

pull up with lateral leg raises are different as well. All helps with roof climbing ๐Ÿ˜€

Then I thought you found one brave soul (not DGOaB) who might just have tried to keep you in sight while you race around burning off all you doughnots.

Ahhh right... yeah, I've created another gym addict ๐Ÿ™‚

I've not quite worked out typewriters Tazzy... do you do the pull up to one side or do you do the pull up to one side then move across... like a typewriter?

I've been doing some... fighter pull-ups IIRC where you do a pull up, then whilst up, move yourself as far away from the bar as possible.

pull up to the right, touch chin to the back of the hand, keep up an move all the way to left to touch chin to left hand, back to centre, full pull up (that counts as 1) and then repeat going to the left hand first next time.

3 sets of 15 and I feel a bit queasy ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

if you haven't got one get a fingerboard for home as well, 10 -15 minutes every day will soon get you very strong (or knackered tendons like what I have) ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I don't have one. Not really had the time to climb regularly either.

Do they have a variety of finger hold sizes?

I'm not far off iDaving it, have kicked spuds, cheese and peanut butter/jam sarnies into touch but am having trouble on drinks, I usually get through 3-4.5 litres of flavoured water as I can't stand unflavoured water. I also drink 10+ cups of tea a day with milk and am down to 1/4 of a sugar. I reckon I could probably ditch the sugar, can you use soya milk in tea? Water is my big problem if I try drinking unflavoured I just can't drink enough, any ideas apart from mtfuing?

TSY, you have about as much chance of completing a campus board as a five minute mile. ๐Ÿ™‚

schrickvr6 - I used to find plain water unsatisfactory too. It wouldn't quench my thirst when I most needed it. But I made a decision to stop drinking soft drinks and coffee between breakfast & evening meal and drank tapwater instead.

It took a while, but now my body's got used to it and it's all I need in my Camelbak for even the longest rides in the heat, and it's my regular daytime drink.

I'm not going to issue a formal challenge. You'll just let me down. I will however demonstrate completing a fell campus board if you'd like sometime. Anyway, what happened the thread? Did it get fractious again? ๐Ÿ˜•

eh?

I'd love to see that Darcy. My focus now that the flab is gone is on the 5 min mile. With a fast 10k thrown in too boot.

eh?

Last time I looked it was was post 43 or something. The I got home and it had gone to 119 or something.

Actually, I've been away from the wall too long to do a full campus board...and by "doing", I meant climbing it both handed (with legs hanging free), not by dynos. What that guy does in the video would about rip my shoulders out of their sockets. ๐Ÿ™‚

Nah, I've just got some really boring stuff to do at work and Solo has shown up.

If you could dyno a campus board like that bloke I'd, err, I'd, umm... *swoon*

From that link:

Just decide that youโ€™re binning certain foods for three weeks. Whatโ€™s three weeks in the grand scheme of things?

Wow. 6 days a week - no carbs/fruit long term?

"**** that."

Yeah, but it doesn't hurt to read some of that poop.
You never know when it might come in handy.
You might wake up one day to find that you've been kidnapped by the free climbers liberation front.
They are demanding a ransom for your safe return and your only hope might be to assure them that you are actually a fellow climber.
At that point, talking about finger boards just might save your skin.
๐Ÿ˜‰

My focus now that the flab is gone is on the 5 min mile. With a fast 10k thrown in too boot.
One, you are not completely fat-free.
Two, if you continue to exercise as you do, will you one day phase in and out of our space-time continuum like a sort of quantom Yeti particle ?.

BigJohn.
Ref the water thing. Spot on ๐Ÿ™‚
If there is an STW forum award for iMTFU.
You get my vote.
I'm with you.

Water !, Just do it !.
