There's a guy + kid outside my window standing in the middle of the road underneath an overhead powerline failing to launch an upside down kite. Should I open the window and offer some advice or let darwinism run its course?

Ah, didn't think that one through. Once the flaming child had extinguished I would indeed be cast into darkness. Fortunately their stamina and skills are well matched, play is abandoned.
