Levi 501 are the only permissible jeans and only on those younger than 30. Did you not learn these things at school? What sort of schools did you go to? Next you will tell me you wear brown shoes in the city and have cappuccinos after lunch! Or even worse Lattes at any time!

if you don’t understand I cannot explain.

Levi’s are terribly made and the cut is not good. Nothing wrong with wearing well cut selvage denim with a decent rise and taper if you are ‘middle aged’ and knowing what to wear with it.

Clarkson looks like a sack of shite because he’s in bad shape and none of his clothes are well cut, nothing worse than a saggy pair of jeans and a billowy muffin top shirt tucked in.
UK men are the worst dressers, the Scandinavians and Italians have got it right.
As for cyclists trousers, Edwin ED-55 in chino or denim has good thigh room to waist ratio.

Eat some cake and buy some 34" trews. It works for me 😉

indeed. Having been so precious about their brand back in the day they seem to pass off any old shit as their flagship '501' now - fit, and quality of material and construction (even to the extent of having bits missing)  is all over the place.

And do you see them wearing jeans when over 30?

You've got very old fashioned ideas about age. (must be the company you keep 🙂    )

Denim just means that the weft has gone under two or more weaves (or the other way round, cant remember), and one is dyed blue and the other left white. 501’s are pretty rubbish if they don’t fit!

Precisely which is why they've been around long before they were named Denim.

Actually drac denim is from Serge de Nimes - a cheap strong cotton died blue meant for workmans clothes.

Scandinavian Aksel Lund Svindal, age 36 wearing jeans

Scandinavian Aksel Lund Svindal, age 36 wearing jeans

He has some pretty fat thighs. Wonder where he gets his trousers.

Diesel Larkee jeans have a decent fit for those of bigger thighes/calves.

It's the calves that I find give me the problem now.

these were suggested on here once :

Perhaps I don't possess awsum powah's but my 42yr old legs fit nicely into Levi 512 slim taper fit jeans in the correct waist size for me too (30" if you're interested).

Sometimes I do wonder if this whole cyclist = epic thighs thing is more to do with how you're put together than the fact that you ride a bike, as in, if you're massive legs don't fit in normal trousers, then I doubt they would if you didn't cycle, unless you're some kind of mega wattage track sprinter or something.
