Is the done thing/not the done thing to include the month and year when listing previous jobs?

Month and Year seems only reasonable.

Be honest if you’ve had a break, no need to try to hide a break in employment these days.

I always did.

If I were a recruiter seeing a CV without dates I'd wonder what was being hidden.  Did you do this job last week or 20 years ago?

I probably need to finish writing it then get a couple of friends  to take a look. The one I've found is dated 2009.

Suspiciously, it's missing a period of unemployment from the early 90s.

Yeh I'd agree, although I've always had good reasons for gaps of a few months, redundancy, between contracts etc.

The job I got hired for 2 jobs<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;"> prior to my current job asked me in interview, I see you haven't worked for 4 months.. What have you been doing?</span>

<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">I said looking for the right job, I've had some dead end offers and wasn't interested in the terms. </span>

That's a perfectly good answer in my eyes.
