I'm going for this big xmas curry tonight with my friends, I'm not a huge fan curry as it always seems to be meat, onions and slop.

So what curry has lots of vegetables and meat in it?? I don't mind spicy but not vindaloo hot.

Go for a vegetable curry? Biryani sounds like it might be good for you, little to no slop there...

rogan josh is always a winner in my book but then it totally depends on the establishment about how good it is.

I prefer the saucy hot ones like Madras but that's just personal preference.

I doubt you'll be dissapointed with the Josh!

I had a fantastic Lamb Rogan Josh on Thursday, spicier than usual.

A good one will have fresh tomatoes in it.

Pathia

not too hot, not too mild... nice bit of sauce, but not wet... sweetish, but not sickly, still very tasty.

perfect 'middle of the road' curry - I love it, and almost always have it in places I haven't been before as a good indicator of how they treat spice without buying a Madras and suddenly discovering your eyebrows are on fire because the chef is having a macho day.

Oh, and you'll want it with lamb, and get the mushroom rice - much more interesting stuff going on than boring old pilau.

IMHO of course 😉

Have a chicken tarka.

It's a bit like a chicken tikka, just a little 'otter.

Why, is that my coat? Thanks.....

+1 for pathia. Very nice curry and you can easily add cauliflower & broccoli to increase the veg content.

Went out for a curry a little while ago with a non curry eater, the waiter actually took the time to speak to him to find out what meat & flavours he liked & made a suggestion based on that, de-spiced it a little as he's not a hot food fan & he loved it.

another vote for pathia, but of the chicken tikka variety, accompanied by egg rice and 2 chapatis.

Pathia or even a Korai - should come in a sizzling iron souk with a thick, rich sauce.
