I am having a refund on a deposit I placed and the vendor is sending me a cheque for something I paid for on a credit card....can they do this? Isn't that basically a cash advance on a cc?

I would speak to CC company and cancel deposit.

Doesn't sound right, which usually means that there is risk to you

isnt this against the credit card rules? something to do with money laundering?
