I shipped a set of Alloy wheels and the courier has lost 1 of the four parcels.
Tracking shows all 4 collected and all 4 received at the local sorting centre, it then shows 2 arriving at the national hub and 3 have actually made it to the buyer. Ridiculous.
I fully insured the shipment for their total sale price, but where would I stand regarding compensation for a part shipment? The wheels are obviously useless without the wheel and a replacement wheel and tyre to complete the set will cost around 60% of the price that the complete set sold for.
HELP?!
Thats a tough one - you'll probably have insurance for the value of each parcel individually - but probably not insurance for 'consequential loss' so in this instance the loss of value to the other 3 wheels.
It depends really on whether the wheels can be bought individually or only in sets as a replacement and whether the courier sees it as '4 parcels' or 'one shipment in 4 parts'. If its the latter then they've failed to deliver the 4 wheels, but if its the former then they've only failed to deliver one.
Its a big item though - its not going to have slipped down the back of the sofa. So the 4th wheel may yet get to its destination.
Its definitely a single shipment consisting of 4 parts.
