Looking to get some use out of the fireplace to provide a bit more warmth in the house, how much can I expect to pay for this?
A friend does have a set of brushes so I could do it myself but I think I'd rather not risk this or should i just mftu? 😀

If you have never used it before I would recommend it being swept and checked for leaks - about £60ish I would say.

The traditional way to do it is to drop a chicken down the chimney 😯

£20 in Pembrokeshire. And he gets the kids to go outside to make a wish when the brush pops out the top of the chimney.
He's the only one locally and is very busy. He also checked out the cracks in the fireback for me and said they were fine.

Top bloke.

PS £60!!!! 😯

£40 for me, the guy who does it is a laugh too, and honest which is nice. T Whiteside based in Preston. Some will instantly tell you the flue needs lining which isn't always the case. Be warned..

When i was a kid my dad had to clear a chimney and i went to "help",he told me to watch the fireplace to make sure the bricks he dropped down the chimney from the roof came down. ****. The chimney cleared all over me!

£45 is the price quoted by my installer, but for the same price i bought my own rods, brush and ash can for the vacuum.

£25 here, but if its not been used id get the first one done by a qualified sweep, rather than the local odd job guy.

light a newspaper and bung it up the chimny.
fun watching the kids wide eyed outside watching the flames .
But ? you can do it yourself easily. Depends on what sort of building you are in.
If its shared chimney or old house get it checked or ask neibours next door .
Log fire will be nice for xmas . sweep the ****er yourself you know you want to .
