Anyone any idea of rough budget for cost of removals truck - trying to avoid being pestered by all the ones that offer a quote, but then have to call you back...

Moving Sheffield to Loch Tay, 4 bed house...

I think we were charged about £800 for three guys and a truck for the day on a 30 mile move. We actually paid about half of that after refusing to pay the original invoice because they were the most useless bunch of incompetent half-wits I have ever encountered. If you're looking for a firm in Edinburgh there's one I can definitely not recommend.

£800? Was that a full packing and unpacking service?

That's over twice what the quotes we're getting for a similar move (although in Nottinghamshire).

There is some website that you can put in the move details and you get a bunch of quotes from people by email - can't remember the name. Only trouble with it is that you do get a load of spam from removals people - they're desperate for work at the moment (so probably worth haggling too).

I think my folks paid a couple of thousand - full pack and unpack all insured and stuff. Only moved 7 miles. whole house and garage full of stuff - I think 30 boxes of books alone. It was a whole huge truck full.
