Just strating to think about summer holidays and quite fancy Cornwall - does anyone have any great recommendations for seaside accommodation - or at least a very short walk to the beach. And really looking for great beaches for our two little girls.

Tried looking online but the range is overwhelming and none are clear about locations.

Cheers.

:-O LoCo - I could get two weeks all inclusive in the Med for the same price as that place!

Liking the St Ives one though - duly sent on to my wife for approval...

We used to go to Trevella when the kids were younger, great place with easy access to most things you want.

Budget? Well we were wanting to spend less than £4k for the whole holiday (including food, drink, ice creams, entertainment etc).

If you do go to St Ives Bay Holiday Park, there's a great bike shop in the town (Hayle Bikes) that sells Stanton frames and other nice bits 🙂

V friendly too.

You'd have thought so but alas no - it's looking like £3k-ish for a half decent holiday cottage for two weeks. Looks like it'l be the Med on an all-inclusive at this rate.

Yeah I know, I spent almost all my childhood holidays in Newquay, Looe, Padstow, Penzance, Mawgan Porth.....

If quiet campsites are your thing,THIS PLACE is great.

If I had £4k to spend on a holiday, it probably wouldn't be in Cornwall, and I live there.

Take the hint. Whilst Cornwall is OK, most bits are quite expensive and the weather is a bit of a gamble.

If you want the authentic british seaside resort, then perhaps consider Pembrokeshire? As pretty as Cornwall without the price tag or the crowds.

I just have a history with Cornwall given my hols there as a kid and want my kids to experience the same....

But it really is hard to justify the cost.

Im writing this whilst staying in this place. Fantastic location. Think there are other apartments in the same building that are bigger.

Sennen cove is beautiful, never as busy as St Ives but also fewer facilities. Personally I dont really like St Ives but you can head round to Carbis Bay on the train easily enough and thats nice. Porthcurno is just around the corner from Sennen too. Porthtowan has a massive beach, as does Perranporth and both towns are a good size for supplies etc.

We've stayed at plenty of places through www.classic.co.uk and never had a problem though we havent had children havent really got any family friendly suggestions I'm afraid.

Sennen is my favourite beach in Cornwall. Especially the north end which is a separate beach at high tide. There's a great campsite 10 minute toddler stroll from there. Trevedra farm??

Stayed on a static caravan in the Haven park in Hayle near St Ives. Less than 10 mins walk to a lovely beach which my 2 girls loved (were 2 and 4 at time) and it's a good place to base yourself, the on-site entertainment looked a bit tacky but spent very little time on site. Were tempted to go again this year but it was about half the price to go to North Wales instead.

Edit - Haven Park was called Rivière Sands

We've stayed here in the past, Penrose Porthcowan is two minute drive away,Padstow / Newquay about ten minutes in either direction.

Would love to stay in Sennen again, unfortunately not likely to happen due to the dog ban on the beach.

Yup, happened to us 2 years ago & we also stupidly went at a stupid time of year, school holidays in summer. ****ing kids everywhere.
Cornwall would be ok (& only ok) if they banned kids. 😕

Sorry but I really do not like kids. 😕

We've stayed in that block a few times, both in the Summer and at New Year - amazing location.

Try Prussia Cove, off the beaten track. No crowds, nice beaches, great campsite, great lets if they are not booked up. Been there every year for the last 25 years. So have most of the other people who we see there each year.

Prussia Cove looks nice but none of them appear to be on/close to a beach so kinda rules them out.

Really can see myself just going abroad at this rate 🙁

My wife's family used to go to a hotel called Bedruthan steps, at Morgan Porth.
Great family hotel with kids clubs and surf lessons etc.

Mawgan Porth is our destination this year, big beach but does get busy and you have to watch for the fast incoming tide if you pitch your gear low down the beach, love treb strand, get there early and get round to the right before everyone else, no lifeguards up that end which keeps the tourists down, similarly stay late towards high tide and swim in the rock pools and maybe a bit of cheeky rock jumping. This will be our 5th year on the bounce. Get wetsuits and the weather is not such an issue.

Resurrecting this thread – now we are considering buying camping kit and doing a couple of shorter (say week-long) trips rather than one big one.

So - any recommendations for campsites in Cornwall with lots of facilities (pool, entertainment etc).

Cheers

No pool but can recommend wwww.oldmacdonalds.co.uk. It's a small (50 pitch) site attached to a petting farm , , there's free unlimited pony rides and a small gauge train and adventure playground. A short walk or car drive away is Portcothan bay for the beach or 6 miles to Padstow one way 9 miles to Newquay the other. My boys (4 & 10) love the place.

Check out Treyarnon Bay Cottages: http://treyarnonbayfarmcottages.co.uk .We've stayed there a good few times now and its a great location (about 5 mins walk away from Treyarnon Bay - the next bay along from Constantine. It's a lovely spot. There is also a caravan park just down the road too but its not as nice as Mother Ivey's Bay Caravan Park, but a lot cheaper i'm sure.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the rock climbing in Sennen. I had some great fun climbing Demo route etc there.

you know high tide isn't at the same time every day right? 😉
