Another one of my saved threads that's gone into Internet space.....

Is the Dyson 10 worth the big bucks, anything else worth getting?

Thanks.

I got the Dyson V7 Motörhead recently - much cheaper but in my tests it seemed to pick up as well as the newer models.

compared to my corded Dyson full size thing I can’t believe how good it is - no long cleans but way, way more quick cleans and the small dust/grit it picks up is astounding.

Cheers I saw the v7 was quite a bit cheaper than the 10 when I was in currys earlier.

Apart from not thinking much of mr dyson I know 3 people who have switched to g tech and are very happy.

They all cite the fact that it stands up on its own as a major bonus.

I just changed from a few years old Dyson v6 to a v10, the v10 is a pretty big improvement (not just power but ease of emptying it and run time). They still come top of the Which? tests to, I know people like to knock them as over-priced plastic crap but I don't think there's anything better out there. Whether it's worth going for a v10 over a v8 I don't know but happy with my v10.

My v6 was also faultless, apart from cleaning the dust filter a few times (quick rinse under the tap) all I had to do was change the battery after 3ish years (about £45 for a non-genuine one via Amazon) as the run time dropped noticeably

My mum has a Shark or something like that? She loves it. If that helps?

I have a Bosch one that uses the same batteries as my drill and impact driver. So if you have them already that can be a cheaper way of getting one? You could spend the savings on bike parts. I think I paid about £60 for the vacuum.

Staying with my in-laws at the moment. They kept telling me how good their dyson was so we did a head too head with my Bosch athlet yesterday as their friend came over with their two dogs.

anyway, they’re getting a Bosch soon.

We got a vax blade max 32v and its superb and half the price of a dyson. So unless the Dyson does the work on its own i just dont see what else it could do better plus i get to keep at least £200 in my wallet.

I can't see that as a bonus over the Dyson approach of having a wall hanger which is arguably a better solution as it isn't taking up any floor space when not in use.

bought the VAX 40v blade 2 for Mrs bruneep. she loves it.

only minor issue is it doesn't empty properly, need to open both ends of cassette. other than than it's great

battery lasts more than enough to do whole house

Wouldn't need to ask again if my saved thread was still there 🙂

And as for the new search function.......

Cheers for those helpful replies though folks will check those options too.

Keep them coming.

Cheers.

Mrsws just relieved us of 200 sheets on the shark one, apparently it's made her life so much easier so I asked if she was going to do more hours at work?

You can imagine the answer to my question, but the answer to yours is it matches the Dyson as she's uses one of those too. On a side note we have all hardwood floors downstairs and it's main use is for stoopid dog hair.

I've got the gtech air ram, and don't rate it to be honest.  The mechanism inside uses plastic gears, and when the spinning sweeper got caught on something it stripped.  I bought the part and replaced it, easy job to do but took a while due to the amount of screws you have to undo.

Have since had to do so three or four more times. And now something else has gone wrong inside it as it's incredibly noisy.
