Need to instruct a solicitor as we have a buyer for our house and we are renting.
Our estate agents what us to use there recommended solicitors but gave a quote of £650 which I found to be a bit much.
Just been online Conveyonline and got a quote for £284 inc VAT.

Rule no. 1 - don't use a solicitor that an estate agent recommends as there will be commission involved (my daughter works in conveyancing and told me this).
Yes, you can use online conveyancing and it can work OK provided everything is straight-forward. However, I would strongly recommend being cautious - downturn in housing market means companies going out of business (this happened to my daughter).
I used a solictior by post, he was around the £250 mark.
