I saw a documentary (on the actual telly) with admiralty denials and official "other explanations" which possibly showed something that could be described as a mermaid/merman (in varying degrees of "Oh that's a rubbish video of a seal from miles away" to "Hmm OK maybe") and had some theoretical argument of how they may have evolved (potentially from humans or close relatives).
It even had explanations from some of the witnesses regarding why people (essentially "The Man") might not want to consider their existence (essentially to be able to develop things in their habitat rather than allowing scientific study of them).
Soo, I kind of think mermaids might exist, and it might be a bit of a conspiracy to not look for them more.
I'm not saying this MUST be true, but it might be, unlike all other conspiracy theories I have ever heard.
Anyone have any that they believe, or just believe ALL of them?
UFO crashed at Roswell. Whether there were Aliens onboard is another thing.
The Ancient Egyptians didn't build the Pyramids. i think they were landing platforms for alien craft. Also how far down underground do they go? Apparently the pyramids at Giza align to the stars of Orion's belt but many thousands of years before the Egyptians were though to have built them. I suspect they used them but did not build them. There is something fishy going on there for sure.
Just finishing a book called The Final Dive. It's a book about a guy called Buster Crabb who they say was the guy Ian Felming (who knew him) based James Bond on. Went missing diving doing a secret dive on a Russian Ship in the 1956. Massive conspiracy about him being a double agent. A body turns up with no hands or a head. The cover up etc. It's a good read.

JFK.
9/11 - some powerful people have gotten extremely rich from the fall out.
Mermaids - almost certainly based on manatee or possibly dugong. A 'documentary' on TV doesn't necessarily have to have many actual facts in it. Even on the Nat. Geo channel.
I'm struggling to think of any 'conspiracy theory' that I believe has anything factual behind it. I'm familiar enough with a variety of basic science subjects to be deeply sceptical about practically every conspiracy theory I've come across.
And that includes climate change/global warming - as long as our planet has had an atmosphere, the climate has changed, simple as that.
There is all sort of funky stuff in the ocean that we haven't discovered yet. It's no conspiracy theory though, it's just really really big, dark, cold and inhospitable. More people have been to the moon than the deepest part of the ocean.

This, it's not Aliens, it's....... Bbbbbbbaaaaarrrrrrryyyyyy Manillo (or so we are lead to believe)
Mars and moon were once alien stations. 😛
JFK is the only one where i think there is some actual mileage in the claim- IMHO there was a conspiracy behind getting him in place to do the shot.
Roswell- what better way to cover up a test crash than with nuts BS about aliens ?

I'm confused - do you think the scientific consensus on climate change is a conspiracy or not?
You bit 🙂
as long as our planet has had an atmosphere, the climate has changed, simple as that.
No one has denied this at all makes me wonder about your grasp tbh as there is no person , never minfd scientist/world expert saying climate has never ever changed on this planet.
The question re AGW is whether the waste we produce, a known greenhouse gas, will affect the atmosphere.
If you say no you need to explain what process ameliorates the warming effect. You cannot just go it always changes.
Graham saying scientific consensus to them gets the same response as saying road tax to you 😉
Monica and Bill...I think he may have has sexual relations with that woman...
Nah, he just splashed out on a new dress for her.

JFK for me too. Don't think we've ever heard the true story but there were quite a few people who knew a lot more than they've ever had to tell. LHO being one of them.
I always thought the whole Roswell thing was shite - is there actually substance to the UFO crash story (genuine question)? I ain't googling "Roswell" so any links to a reasoned explanation rather than more alien autopsy stuff. Shirley something like that would have had to have too many people "in on it" to keep it quiet for so long.
The Tories are trying to destroy the NHS.
I wasn't going to derail the thread into a climate debate - I just thought there was a bit of a logical contradiction in saying that that he was deeply skeptical of every conspiracy, because science, and then saying that the climate change we see is a natural cycle, indicating a conspiracy involving a very large number of climate scientists (include the Royal Society).

Have a listen to the Joe Rogan Podcast with Graham Hancock & Randall Carson here , a plausible theory regarding building of the Pyramids tied in with the Comet that entered our Solar System 12,800 years ago which caused massive melting of the northern ice caps leading to a mass flood.

It is not "might" it is the fact ...
That the US didn't kill Osama during the raid.. it makes no sense to kill him outright, it would be a far better idea to take him alive and interrogate him.. they might have injured him, but no way are they going to kill him before seeing what info he has.. he may well be dead now, but not when they initially stated he was, complete with a convenient sea burial..
The roswell UFO is actually part of a long term alien invasion plan. No aliens crash landed at Roswell, but an Alien UAV landed there which had a whole stack of data to help the world develop more and more technology and emit more and more greenhouse gases to speed up global warming.
The alien UAV see was sent by Aliens from a dying planet, they are looking to invade and take over our planet but currently the atmosphere is too cool for them to survive. By supplying this data, they are actually getting humankind to do the work of warming earth up to a sustainable temperature for them, and when that happens (currently predicted to be May 6th, 2027) they will invade and kill us all.
It is such an obvious plan that it really shouldn't be in this thread as a conspiracy theory as it is fact.
Edit: Bermuda Triangle is the future landing point for the invasion and Donald Trump is an alien spy. His hair is not actually hair, it is a sophisticated body warming device to enable the alien to live in our cool climate.

Definitely JFK. Pretty sure there was a set up and certain Oswald didn't do it alone.
The book that Stone's film is based on makes interesting reading. The only trial connected to the assassination.
What really fascinates me is that IF it was a conspiracy, there is quite possibly someone alive still who knows the truth. And I would love to hear that story.
The whole Diana/Marilyn/moon landing theories I find pretty dull in comparison.
Woody Harrelsons dad shot JFK.
It's not a big conspiracy theory but an example of the manipulative nature of the media. It's a BBC report from the first attempt to persuade the public to support the bombing of Syria.
There were lots of really strange stories appearing at the time which claimed to show Assad using chemical weapons, such as this:
But I remember seeing this BBC report and just thinking it was obviously fake. It was shown on the day of the first vote:

When you look into all the players involved in Iran Contra, things get bonkers pretty quickly.
I can't verify everything in this link, but there is certainly a wealth of very uncomfortable truth in there:

"La Nebuleuse": Supranational network tied to child abuse networks, Iran Contra, cocaine cartels and the BCCI's "Black Network"
It begins to tie together both the Dutroux Affair (Belgium) and the Franklin Scandal (US):
Incredibly, not only have the Belgians that were involved in Iran Contra been accused of child abuse (Boas, Mathot, Vanden Boeynants and Beaurir), but North and his employer, vice president and later president George Bush, were uncomfortably close to the Franklin child abuse affair in the United States. Both were mentioned by witnesses as having attended the parties of alleged child abuser, Satanist, Contra supporter, money launderer and drug dealer Lawrence E. "Larry" King. [17] Another Contra supporter and alleged child abuser, Robert Keith Gray, was also close to Bush, North and King. [18]
Also worth noting are the similarities between the allegations surrounding the Franklin Scandal and those in the UK, with involvement of military bases and intelligence services:

we sell arms to people so that we can shoot/bomb them and say "but he had a gun/bomb"
This one has only come about in the last couple of months as events have unfolded:
Finally much of the media seems to be waking up to the clear double standards surrounding the Western world and the proclaimed pursuit of 'freedom and democracy' and the long and close relations with Saudi Arabia.
Will the media explore allegations that the current US President, Barack Obama was mentored and aided by a key advisor to one of the Saudi Princes who has been implicated as supporting Al-Qaeda before 9/11?
Read on...
One of the key things to remember is that the extremist Wahhabist ideology that western leaders condemn originates from Saudi Arabia and the Saudi authorities continue to promote and fund it's spread.
Despite that, somehow our intelligence services have failed to identify the correlation between Wahhabism and extremism, even after several joint operations with the Saudi intelligence service (At least 2 heads of Saudi intelligence are alleged to have funded and aided Al-Qaeda in the run up to 9/11)
A few recent examples of further factors which bring western governments allegiance with Saudi Arabia into question:
BBC Newsnight recently did an expose of Saudi led airstrikes in Yemen and their toll on the civilian population [1]; furthermore, it appears the tragic deaths of over 130 people at a wedding in Yemen are likely the result of airstrikes, though the Saudi led, US armed coalition has denied involvement [2]. On top of this there is a naval blockade, bringing much hardship and suffering on the civilian population (a similar situation to Gaza)
The case of Ali Mohammed al-Nimr, who protested against the Saudi regime and is to be beheaded and crucified, a sentence handed down when he was 17, largely based on a “confession” he was forced to sign following alleged prolonged torture in custody. The sentence will be carried out in jail by the Saudi prison service. The British government is in the advanced stages of a bid for a £5.9m contract to provide prison expertise to the Saudis. [3]
Similarly there is the case of Raif Badawi, a blogger who criticized senior religious figures and highlighted problems surrounding cultivation of terrorism in a prominent Saudi university. For the crime of free speech, Raif Badawi has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and 1000 lashes. [4] Amnesty International have been working to free Raif Badawai, whilst Western Governments look on.
These are just 2 examples of the barbaric system of justice in Saudi Arabia, which is on a similar level to ISIS, including cutting off hands and beheadings (some sources state Saudi Arabia has carried out more beheadings this year than ISIS) [5].
So, it comes as a real slap in the face that Saudi Arabia has been elected to head a panel of the UN Human Rights Council, that selects senior officials who draft international human rights standards and write reports on violations.
To top it off, Wikileaks cables (translated by UN Watch) suggest Saudi Arabia's place on the UNHRC was a result of a secret deal with the UK on voting. [6]
Of course, Saudi Arabia is one of the largest customers of the UK arms trade [7]
So with this background, could there have been any backroom shenanigans surrounding the recent dismissal of prosecutions of Saudi Arabia in relation to the 9/11 attacks? [8]
Especially since though he cited sovereign immunity for Saudi Arabia, the very same judge, George Daniels, 'ruled that 9/11 was not just the work of Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban regime that gave them safe haven, finding that Iran, its Grand Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei and the regime’s Lebanese proxy Hezbollah aided the attacks. [9]
Would the classified 28 pages of the Joint Congressional Inquiry into 9/11 have swayed the judge's ruling?
After all, the lead author of the Senate’s report on 9/11, ex Governor of Florida, Senator Bob Graham says it’s time to reveal what’s in the redacted 28Pages.org, which he says will embarrass the Saudis.[10]
On top of all that, Barack Obama has been mentored over decades by a key advisor to one of the Saudi Princes who has been implicated as supporting Al-Qaeda before 9/11. [11] [12]

I read one link, #11. It's bobbins. It's 1979; some guy suggests OPEC gives a bunch of free money to black students in the U.S.; OPEC, presumably because it's not in the business of giving away free money, says no; nothing happens for 35 years; then a bunch of speculation is written.
The whole thing is stitched together from a 1979 article in a Florida newspaper and an interview on the community access channel in NYC that gets watched in the three seconds between the cable box coming on and you punching another channel into the remote.
It is also at least suggestive that Obama began that college education as a member of the highly international student body of Occidental College in 1979, the same year when Vernon Jarrett was touting the college aid program being funded by OPEC and possibly Prince Alwaleed.
No, it's not.
How do you land things on a point? You don't. You have a recess in the base of the spacecraft that is pyramid shaped (or the inverse of a pyramid) so the space craft sits over the pyramid - a bit like a cup and cone. the wide base of the pyramid spreads the weight of the craft. Saves having to have undercarriage for a craft that probably spends most of its time travelling through space.
And the alignment of the pyramids to the stars on Orions belt being wrong? - yes it is wrong - exactly the point. It is wrong for the time the Egyptians were supposed to have built them. Wind back the orientation of the constellation of Orion a couple of thousand years and they align. So why would the Egyptians build an almost perfect representation of the constellation of Orion relative to the nile that represents the Milky Way, that doesn't actually align with the constellation and the Milky Way? Like I said, something fishy there!
So with this background, could there have been any backroom shenanigans surrounding the recent dismissal of prosecutions of Saudi Arabia in relation to the 9/11 attacks? [8]
With all that well researched and presented evidence, I'm surprised you don't already subscribe to the proven and detailed links between the Bush Dynasty and the Saudis, and their alleged role in the affair and the Military Industrial Complex.
Of course there were background shenanigans.
911 controlled demolition
Bin laden isn't dead (that's my own theory)
Saves having to have undercarriage for a craft that probably spends most of its time travelling through space.
so, you can build a spaceship, but somehow need a landing site made out of a pile of stones..? The idea of ancient civilisations building these things at all is surely fascinating enough, without all the spaceman bullshit, no?
Diana wasn't killed, she was collateral damage. Dodi was the target.

Oh please, I can remember all the documentaries in the 80's about Thatchers deals with the Saudi regimes, newspapers questioning Prince Andrew's involvement, and on and on.
Saudi Arabia is one of the largest customers of the UK arms trade
Have you done any research into Saudi domestic terrorism? Could I suggest you "do your own research" on the Grand Mosque Seizure of Nov 1979, and the crisis of confidence that it caused?
With all that well researched and presented evidence, I'm surprised you don't already subscribe to the proven and detailed links between the Bush Dynasty and the Saudis, and their alleged role in the affair and the Military Industrial Complex.
Very good point, reading the excellent House of Bush, House of Saud by Craig Unger at the moment.
Also have Intelligence Matters by Bob Graham (the ex senator mentioned in the post above) lined up.
The links go far beyond just the Bush Family though~ British Royalty, Rupert Murdoch, the Carlyle Group and the CIA, MI6 and Saudi Intelligence are all tied into the whole sorry mess...
The difference with the case surrounding Obama above is that it has only recently unfolded, happening in the present.
Oh please, I can remember all the documentaries in the 80's about Thatchers deals with the Saudi regimes, newspapers questioning Prince Andrew's involvement, and on and on.

What about links between wahhabism and extremism? Were they raised back then?
Yep, like I said, look at what the events of Nov 79 caused, In short, the answer that the King imposed was "more religion". That event pretty much decided the fate of Saudi society and sowed the seeds of violent salafism that began in the war against the Russians in Afghanistan, and soon turned it's gaze further west...
This has been reported on by the likes of Fisk, Cockburn, Chomsky, Pilger for decades now.

The good thing is the mainstream media are beginning to question those links...
even Louise Mensch in The Sun!!
Why does this matter? Because if we say “Islamist” terror we insult ALL the Muslims. If we falsely say Wahabbis are Muslims, young and uneducated Muslims may believe it and see them as ‘glam’ or ‘hardcore’.
To defeat Daesh, Al Qaeda and Saudi extremism – three sides of the same evil triangle – we can’t do it on our own.

So more on the fringes of the mainstream?
Well, both Fisk and Cockburn have been writing articles for the Telegraph Times and Independent newspapers for decades now, so I don't know how much more mainstream you want. Chomsky's hardly "fringe", and John Pilger has been making and writing documentries that have been repeatedly on mainstream channels such as BBC ABC, Ch4 and ITN. The fact that you haven't been paying attention to all this, isn't their fault.
Stan Laurel is Clint Eastwood's dad.
I'd love that one to be true.... 😆
So how many UK Prime Ministers have been questioned on UK links to Saudi Arabia and Wahhabism on a Primetime mainstream news programme?
do your own research?
I guess you haven't been paying attention...
guess not. 🙄
Some decent ones on the second Wilson government - they even have their own wikipedia page.
Like the one where the army closed Heathrow airport without his knowledge as a 'training exercise'.
The great man was in decline, weak government with no working majority in the commons, cold war going hammer and tongs, economic malaise - no question it was a time of political plotting and uncertainty. A state-sponsored coup sounds like lunacy, mind, but probably gained amongst the margin walkers.
