my computer went funny last night , all my desk top icons are now really big and they look like a child has drawn them , is it my graphic card

Not being funny, have you checked the cable?
Otherwise, Windows update might have nuked the graphics drivers. I assume you have tried rebooting it?

Apart from your desktop icons what does it look like (e.g. if you open an application)?
