I've been feeling rather glum after realising I haven't ridden a mountain bike in anger for nearly three years due to a complicated issue with both knees. It's progressed/regressed (?) so now I'm walking with a stick.
I'm booked in for surgery soon, but in the meantime I was hoping to try and rally myself with any stories from people on here who have been off the bike long-term but managed to return to the sport and at an enjoyable level.
By way of background I rode a quite a good level, Gorrick races, represented my uni, and plenty of riding in Spain and the Alps. Now late 30s. I'm not sure if I will be able to return anywhere near the same level, and I'm not bothered about racing any longer, but any goodvibe stories will be much appreciated, thanks!
