Kinesio Tape. Unverified scientifically, but supposedly lifts skin and helps blood flow in the area.

Probably a placebo.

Kinesio Tape, I used a strip on advice from a physio last year,
I'd had some problems with my shoulder when swimming. The pain came from an old bike injury where I'd broken my collar bone, he used the tape to pull the inside of the shoulder open slightly and releave tension on the muscle.

I was in so much pain I couldn't swim before using it, two weeks later I did a half Iron man swim, yeah two weeks rest might have done the trick but........

I thought it had some supportive properties... it turns out it's just for the feeble minded.

Rock tape

The K-tape stuff has been discussed a couple of times on here before. Basically, it's unproven quackery. You can read about studies here.

The executive summary is,

So far there is no scientific evidence that elastic therapeutic taping produces clinically significant benefits.

It does look cool though, and that is what matters.

No different to the "power balance" bands from a few years ago.

Zero scientific evidence, but if it has a placebo effect on people - then it must be doing 'something'.

In the same way religious people believe they're going to 'heaven'...

Each to their own.

I'm with the looking cool school. And that's why Immagonna try it on my dodgy shoulder.

Allows the affected area to be laterally stiff yet vertically compliant.

They should make condoms out of the stuff.
