Has to be Mike Ashley. He has been accused of running his factory like a victorian work house paying staff less than minimum wage so what does he do?
look, I have significantly more cash than you
Why's he wearing Beetlejuice's tie?
Maybe the bloke outside coop earlier who crunched the car he was failing to park behind, then left without leaving a note.
He may a bit of a dick but it's no secret he has significantly more cash than everyone in the Country apart a select 44.
I don't think he was trying to be flash or make any point.
I would have disappointed if he didn't have a wad of £50s. What I always think of well off/rich people is that they employ an awful lot of people one way or another.
....at less than minimum wage, selling the poor substandard tat, manufactured in some of the worst sweatshops in southeast asia....what a guy
As above everyone knows he's rich, too rich, no one person needs that much money. Having said that how many people get into sport because sports direct is cheap. I would not have started running if I couldn't have bought cheap running shoes. Although also said above the quality is poor

Lol.
Yeah totally grateful to the rich for their involvement in the slow shift in the balance of economic power from labour to capital, the stagnation of real wage growth and widening inequality.
I couldn't care less about how much money he has, but he knew he was going to have to empty his pockets and he just felt the need to show of the cash
Perfect demonstration of how money does not buy class
gavinpearce - MemberWhat I always think of well off/rich people is that they employ an awful lot of people one way or another.
His business model isn't one that creates new products or markets; Sports Direct grows by attacking other companies and one of the ways they do that is by hammering their staff. Broadly speaking, the jobs he creates are cancelled out by the jobs he destroys, and many of those are better jobs. It's nothing to be very grateful for.
Course, he's demonised, he's far from the only person taking the piss out of workers- he's just become the whipping boy. But this? This was shit.
If I were as rich as him, I'd have the decency to employ someone to carry my spare change rather than spoil the cut of my perfectly tailored suit.
Edit: then again, I wouldn't be a complete 4 star **** to anyone in my employ either
Hmmm, but what about Sir Philip Green who is also displaying 1st class bellendery
Why do you think with all that money he looks like he's wearing someone else's clothes?
and he only ever wears the same black and white striped tie
Agree with the OP.
It was either a crass display of wealth in front of his minimum wage staff or a clumsy oversight
Either way: Bellend
It's people like him who make me wish for a short lived return to Bolshevism, if only to see their obscene wealth confiscated and redistributed.
Unfortunately, we live in an age where corporations are seen as benevolent entities doling out employment and thus entitled to opt out of paying the correct amount of tax to HMRC and given a hotline to the very top of government.

An oversight that just happened to be stage-managed for the press
and he only ever wears the same black and white striped tie
it's a Newcastle tie.
We should be applauding his business model as a motivator for kids to try harder at school.
Try harder at school so you don't end up working for him, try really hard and you can be as rich as him 🙂
Staged.
Who carries cash in that denomination unless they need to show it.?
Who carries cash in that denomination unless they need to show it.?
Mike Ashley apparently.
Sports journalist on the radio the other day, telling about being in a large group of Ashley's guests at an Indian restaurant, when the bill came he pulled out a wad of fifties and paid with cash.
Not defending him or anything but apparently he always carries cash.
rich man has lots of money shocker

We can't return to it, we never had it. Fortunately.
Remind me, how did all that wealth redistribution go in Russia circa 1920?

I was in a hotel restaurant in Barcelona when Ronaldinho who was sitting at the next table pulled out an enormous roll of 50 Euro notes to pay for his and his friends meals. I don't think he was being flash just probably the only money he was ever trusted to have control of himself. I imagine his agent, his brother irrc, just gave him a roll of them every morning and like pocket money

If only he had a bank account.
I know a couple of people (with nowhere near the money Mike Ashley has) who would think nothing of leaving the house with a couple of £k in cash in their pockets.
They are both farmers/contractors..
I also have a friend who owns a large butchery business who carries a stack of cash everywhere 'in case he sees something nice'

These people you know - would they show off their cash to the people they employ on crappy wages?
Every time I go into SD the place is packed. There must be a lot of hypocrits in this country!!
I feel like he's being used as a decoy.
