I can't work out if I'm being paranoid or not, but am I alone in being a bit suspicious of people who are buying (rather than selling) on the classifieds without any history. I've had some nibbles on another forum from people who have either just registered or have no posting history over the time they've been registered. I wouldn't care if it was something for 20 quid, but for a full bike, I'm not overly keen on shoving it in the post and hoping that Paypal don't suddenly yoink the money back.
Am I being a mentalist?
Incidentally, not suggesting someone who may or may not have emailed me about a classifieds purchase is suspicious 😉
If Rugbyrichard has paypal sent the money and you have it, send it back and ask for a bank transfer. As long as it is gift, no fees are incured. I am sure he would understand that noobs create a little worry- but then everyone has to start somewhere.
Ask for a cashier/bank cheque and make it known that you won't be despatching until the cheque has cleared. But then the buyer may feel he could be the victim of a rip off. Bankers draft? Is there such a thing for small personal banking? Ask your bank?
Nobody here has sent money or committed to; it was more of a general question as I've had a few approaches from buyers on other forums that sounded a bit odd and the STW hivemind usually has an opinion.
