Can't beat a bit of Queen, even my 8-year old daughter loves them.

Go back through any decade, and people will whine 'there isn't much decent music about', when in fact there's loads; all you gotta do is put a bit of effort in and find it. I've put up a number of posts with long lists of current quality music that's on a par with anything from any previous decade. And I can say that as an obsessive music lover who started getting interested forty years ago. Two tips: 6Music, especially Lauren Lavern and Cerys Matthews shows, and The Word magazine, which has quality reviews and good sampler cd's that are perfect iPod fodder. There's probably more music out there now, and more ways to get it, than any previous time.

Any of the American Recordings albums by Johnny Cash, but especially America V: A Hundred Highways

And if you really only have time to listen to 1 song of that album...make it 'if you could read my mind'

The most beautiful, beautiful version of any song I have ever heard.
