What chessboard for a gift? Should be a nice quality one. Go second hand and get something vintage, or something local and crafty?

Chess Baron have a bit of a sale on just now. Quality, solid wood boards in a range of woods (not veneer). I suspect you'll struggle to find a quality vintage board without a set (if that's what you're after). Do check the size though and make sure the pieces will be big enough to fit tidily on the squares
