Looking for something for the Scout hut, predominantly for movie nights. Needs to be
- Bluetooth (saves having wires than can be tripped over or fiddled with)
- (ideally) battery powered
- idiot proof in use (and I set the idiot bar very low here...)
- pretty loud (I tried an Anker Soundcore and that didn't cut it, it was too quiet so some of them couldn't really hear it, so they start chatting amongst themselves, that means others can't hear it so they start chatting too, pretty soon none of them are watching the film and they're making a load of noise, and the point of movies nights is, frankly, to keep them quiet for a bit so we can have a beer in the kitchen)
Budget is tight, £40max, but figured there must be something cheap on eBay that will fit the bill. I was thinking one of those party speaker things?
This may be of no use but I bought this a few weeks ago and have been impressed. Sadly I got it in black Friday sale when it was £40 but now gone back up to £70 but expect you may still be able to find it somewhere else at reduced price.

exactly! what kind of name is that to have plastered all over a product 🤣 🤣
Like this Majority BT speaker?
The only thing that puts me off that is that I bought two of the P100 speakers from the same seller, thinking I'd link them. They arrived today, one wouldn't connect to Bluetooth and the linking between the two wouldn't work either (I guess, possibly, cos of the same underlying issue). So I'm a bit unsure quality-wise
...that logo is going to last 5 minutes without modification in the scout hut!
Well, indeed. What is is with speaker brands? Anker, W-King, I'm amazed there's not a bass-heavy one called Knee Trembler
.

I haven't used that particular speaker but I bought a £50 Majority Soundbar for use as a bluetooth speaker for the kitchen. It offers really good performance for the money.
thinking I'd link them
I can imagine one source being able to play to multiple outlets at the same time (possibly) I've not actually tried that. But for the price I wouldn't have thought there was a way to connect them either through software, or physically unless I'm missing something. As you say though if one won't connect at all via bluetooth it does sound defective. Hopefully either they or the seller can help you out though.

In theory you can connect multiple speakers via TWS, but it won't work. My guess is it's because the one that won't individually connect by Bluetooth is borked generally. Anyway, they'll go back for a refund.
So, bump for the Thursday crowd, any other, ideally innuendo-free, recommendations?
