got me all nostalgic and thinking about other good rock songs with cello; a slightly cheesy Whitesnake tune stands out, but what others?
I think the intro to Diane, by Therapy? is cello.
As tears go by
Nirvana unplugged
Badly Drawn Boy's 1st LP. Er forgotten the song.
Cello's doing rock...
ELO
The only band I have every (original incarnation) album of is ELO. Happened by accident when I found a complete box set cheap! Some cracker music.

Why just cello's? Why not go the whole hog?
Metallica - S&M. Shows how great their musicianship is. For Whom The Bell Tolls is stunning. Bombastic 🙂

Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic Orchistra is worth a listen.
Whatever.
Is beautiful day not 2 violins?
Lots of Therapy? had Martin McCarrick on it, not just Diane, but usually electric and distorted so could pass for guitar or bass a lot of the time- it was miles more obvious live.
He and his wife are on a bit of Biffy too, though, none of the really good stuff I think 😆
No contest.
(although the calls for Therapy? and Diane are close).
cello in this aye?
A little Volbeat for you.
(it may be a double bass, not sure but close enough the same for me).
