What cars can you fit three kid seats in the back off?
I know that cars like the mondeo are too small in the seats as there isn't the room to get the third one in the middle. So what else have people on here actually fitted three seats into.
Multipla
The boot - if they can't be seen, you can't be nicked.
We've got a Mutipla, 3 full seats in front and 3 in the back. Recommend it and would buy another
3 in a Mondie is do-able, been there, done that.
Shitroen Pickarseole will do 3, as will a Multipla. Plus the usual suspects of a Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharan easily. 3 in a Lexus too. 😀
Are all kids fatter these days?? i remember being a young with my brother and sister, in the back of a metro and maestro and an old pug 309, surely a mondeo is big enough??
We're on our second Honda CR-V for exactly this reason - three kid seats across the back.
LMT - it's the car seats that does it. You were probably all sliding around on a bench back seat with your tank tops and stay press trousers (just like I was)

The problem is in trying to fit 3 child seats as these are pretty wide.
7 seater Zafira?

This is indeed the problem. Not only are they wide but are solid and can't really be moved around like a person can to get seat blets in etc.
GTdave was it a once off in the mondeo? We don't like MPV's and i don't want a french car (not sure on Itallian either)
Should add i mean proper MPV's not necasarilly the little ones.

We found that ours fit in most cars - it was cheaper to buy narrower seats than a new car...So we do fit three seats in a Mondeo, our old Passat, our Touran (and any other 7 seat mini-mpv thing we tried), they even fit in a Clio(!) and a Focus.
Go and measure then compare you seat to others, as some are humongously excessivley wide...We have friends who barely get two of theirs side by side in a Fabia.
Oh, and our Touran while boring is an ace family car - its grown and grown on my since I got it 18 months ago.
Which seats have you got? and are they all booster type ones or a mix with the stage 0 and stage 1 seats?
Accepting your French comment above, some friends have just bought a Xsara Picasso after being told by the dealer that it would fit three child seats in the back..... I have no reason to doubt the word of a car salesman..... 😉
i can get 3 x kids and booster seats in the back of our astra when required
just got to give em a good shove and slamb the door hard!
getting the seatbelts done up is a pain though
Cant believe this is an issue - family cars are made for err families are they not?
Get some seats that haven't been on steroids?
heather its not that easy. the stage 1 setas are all pretty big and take up a lot of room. and the shape of most car rear seats mean that they won't fit together with out a lot of hasle which is fine for short/occasional journeys but not full time or long ones.
Yes, Heather of course you can fit 3 child seats in most 5 seater cars (depends on the car seats) but this is STW - the forum to turn the simplest problem into a massive drawn out discussion 😉
Fiat Doblo here. 3 kids in the back all with booster seats and still a large boot. The Multipla really doesn't have the luggage room that a car with 6 seats should have. A bit agricultural but it's been reliable for the 2 1/2 years we've had it and averages over 50mpg despite doing mainly urban driving and fairly short distances.

Nah. 3 in a Mondie is easy, done it many times. 3 in a Focus is a much tighter fit & requires much more kiddy-seat manipulation. Still do-able though (just)!!
We always have 2 Graco Rally-sport high-back boosters in our Focus & occasionally squeeze a britax booster (sans back) in the middle.
Renault Scenic
Stick one of them in the front. Adult in the back with two of the kids.
Goan
You can try telling my wife she has to sit in the middle for 3 hours plus and she what she says 😉
I have 3 kids also, and i have a renault grand scenic, and this is perfect for us. 3 full seats in the back (all will take a child seat), with 2 extra in the back for the occasional friend coming for tea. Plus you can slide the middle row of seats forwards and back, and also take them completely out for a huge van like space for days out for 2 people with bikes (inside vehicle, deadlocked and alarmed) and bags, clothes, kit etc. What you can also do with the scenic, which others in its class can't do, is to remove say, the left hand rear seat and fold down the passenger seat to fit in 4 people and long packages/ skis etc. on the left hand side.
Gotta love the Scenic, very versatile.

Same with ours, good fuel economy too, 50 + mpg urban, touching 60mpg on long motorway journeys. Boring but very useful, huge boot with the extra seats folded away. Can still get three kids seats across the back.

Never, never, never, never buy a Renault, biggest pile of cr*p ever. Had a Clio and a Scenic at the same time, both cost us a fortune to keep on the road, sheared drive shafts, airbags going off by themselves, springs constantly breaking, all sorts of things failing that should have outlasted the life of the car and and don't forget the Clio bonnets openning at 70 mph. And Renault customer service, total joke.
Honda FRV.

No probs with ours?? Horses for courses though.
Yeap, Honda FR-V.
I've had 2 first stage and a second stage in a picasso for a year or so, and currently have three second stage in a zafira, all in the same row.
To be honest the picasso was fine, just a sod to get to the central seats seatbelt most the time.
I've had 4 Renaults and they were all brilliant. Reliability was spot on, build quality was fine and customer service was excellent. Now then - that Honda Civic pile of shee-ite.....
Im thinking about buying a Zafira VXR for my next car, got to be one of the best looking MPV's around with lot's of room for the kid's(and bike's) but slight downside is shit economy and high tax 😆

I currently drive a vectra, perfect family car with lot's of room(HUGE boot) and can be had pretty cheap 🙂
VW Touran is indeed very capable, we have one. Personally I prefer a normal car for putting bikes the roof. My A6 takes 3 seats in the back.
Galaxy, Sharan, Alambra all work well as does Zafira. New Galaxy great all rear seats fold into floor, better than removing heavy seats and storing when you need space. Or you could try a 9 seat Transit Tourneo, no problem with car seats in there!!
LR Discovery 3:-)...fit two adults and 5 child seats
ffpah, used to be four of us kids in the back in vw beetle back-in-the-day.
kids these days, cotton wool, mumble, mumble, dribble....
