We had a carpet fitted, down stairs lounge, not complicated.

On fitting there were a few noticeable air pockets, he says It'll settle down over the next weeks.

On seeing it the next morning in proper daylight, there are about 5 of these very noticeable air pockets, the missus has gone to complain and get it sorted, they're coming back on Wednesday.

Anyone heard this ittle settle down excuse before?

A lounge carpet is pretty straight forward.
There shouldn't be any 'air pockets'.............

Unless...
1. they gave the carpet a good seeing to to get it into place.
2. the carpet has been folded.
3. the roll of carpet has been bent.

Any of the above would distort the carpet so that it won't lay flat.

What sort of carpet is it, and what fixing method did they use?

2. the carpet has been folded. It came out in a roll so i guess not.
3. the roll of carpet has been bent. Don;t think so.

Bog standard normal carpet about a 3/4 inch flock on it, is that the right phrase

The floor wasn't dead flat to start with, used to have laminate down on it and thee was some play under that in one area - but now the carpet is down - its uneven all over the place and not specifically where that problem was?

"It'll settle down mate" is normally, a way to say "Yeah, I know I screwed it up but hopefully after a few weeks you'll have given up trying to get me to sort it out".

There shouldn't be any air pockets in the carpet. Get them to sort it out. Sounds like they didn't stretch it properly as they laid it.

Don't suppose they marked your skirting boards too did they?

The missus has done right.
Get them back to sort it out.

Sometimes it can be difficult to get a good anchor/fixing, but that's their job.

If it's not right now it won't get better.

Sounds like the fitter has not streached out the carpet properly when fitting the carpet.
It will just get worse
